If this is an equivalent to the blinking floppy icon, it could be that the ZuluSCSI is taking a few seconds to start up. My BlueSCSI V2s take a little extra time to get themselves "ready" before they boot. Maybe not 10 seconds, but enough that I do get the floppy icon for a couple seconds before...

I have one from that same brand, yes. I've only rebuilt one battery with it so far (my PowerBook 1400 battery), so far so good. Works well.

I feel like fabricating a new rubber sheet should be another option, given that seems to be what makes the Duo keyboard so awful to type on. It probably wasn’t great to begin with though.

Your keyboard issue is likely caused by the conductive membrane oxidizing over time. You may be able to clean it, or you may need to paint over the contacts on those bad keys with a conductive paint/pen. It’s an issue that plagues most Duo keyboards these days.

Excellent thread as always! This is the best Duo restore thread I've seen - I might link this directly from MacDat. For cap reference - I'm missing the values for the power supply and the Mini Dock. Did you happen to note those down? Will get your photos up soon on the Repair Portal :)

My guess would be that it was added in a later hardware revision, perhaps the single battery wasn’t performing well enough.

Ah, so that explains it - just extra capacity. Maybe these can keep the system alive in suspend mode while the main battery is swapped out? A lot of PC laptops could do that, but they usually used a Varta NiMH pack rather than a lithium rechargeable.
