Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
Just writing to say kudos for this excellent documentation of your work: the pictures are very nice. If you document your keyboard cleaning just as well, I may have some hope of replicating your results on my own //c.
I think it refers to the maximum clock frequency of the part. -8 means an 8 MHz speed limit, 10 means you can go up to 10 MHz. Either should work fine in a Plus.
The "p" is for Plastic dual in-line package. (Other manufacturers say that differently, but that's what it means for a 68000.)
Shame...
Congrats on your Lisa!
As an interactive exhibition machine, the Lisa presents a challenge: it is slow. Furthermore the Office System apps are not very different to a modern-day office suite. This combination of attributes does little to stir the heart. In a way, Lisa is a victim of its own...
The folder is empty for me: the contents of Saved HD only live in your own browser. (Try your link in another browser or in Incognito Mode to see.) Is there another way to share this info?
The boot ROMs (version H in this case) are not enough: you also need to change your video state ROM, which controls the screen timing. See this post for a bit more detail. This is a PROM and not an EPROM, and it also contains a Lisa's unique serial number, or at least it does for the un-modded...
There is much the Lisa video board has in common with the video system in classic Macs. You might refer to the Dead Mac Scrolls for some troubleshooting hints. See e.g. pages 49 on in this PDF:

I've boosted it on the vcfed forum, but I wanted to make certain that folks here also heard about the impressive achievement of @AlexTheCat123 and @warmech compiling the full Lisa Office System and the underlying Lisa OS from the source code that @al kossow worked hard to get Apple to release a...
Thanks for confirming that you have the square pixel mod! I was curious to know what happens when you try to run the Selector on it, and now we see.
The diagnostic mode allows your ESProFile to pretend to be the Lisa and to read and write from a separate ProFile or Widget hard drive. If you...
I don't think the problem here lies with the ESProFile or the Selector --- my hunch is that your Lisa has the square pixel modification intended for later versions of the MacWorks operating environment. The Selector is written for the original Lisa screen dimensions.
Try powering on your Lisa...
Well... opinions do differ on this, sometimes to the point of bitter disagreement. I don't share this opinion, personally --- or to be more precise, for me it depends on your plans. More in a second:
I think that's just the PSU and the video board though. The logic boards, Widget, and floppy...
Don't worry too much about the risk you took with the RIFAs! They make a big stink and a goodly amount of smoke, but usually they don't cause much in the way of irreversible damage. The computer will even continue to run after they've gone "pop". Still, it's much better to replace them before...
Having a "some-in-one" (not all-in-one, alas) solution without a lot of cabling has been handy: the other day I was benefiting from being able to tab between VGA, composite, and HDMI in the same spot. It's nice not having to find power cables and other leads for various kinds of scan converters...
It doesn't sound to me like there's anything obvious you missed, so I think now we find ourselves at the trailhead of the troubleshooting journey. Usually the first step along the path is power.
The Lisa PSU is a bit like two PSUs in one: there's the main switching PSU alongside a tiny linear...
I got one.
I don't have a Quadra 700, but this TinkerDifferent thread suggests that the 700 uses sync-on-green video, and the Checkmate doesn't do sync-on-green. (Bit of a disappointment for me since I got the black model in hopes of pairing it up with a NeXT, which is also a sync-on-green...
Heck, even saying "I know there are other videos about this on YouTube, but one thing that might be nice for folks on this forum is my discussion about how the video works. I'm proud of it because ..." --- it would make it feel more likely that you posted because you were interested to share it...
Probably just one post on 68kmla would have done the trick this time. I don't begrudge someone advertising a video they put some time into, but twice is a bit spammy IMO.
Maybe another thing is: consider your audience on this forum? I think a lot of us at 68kmla have heard of the IIe card goes...
Fantastic guide; I don't have one of these cameras (although I used one back in the day) and it was still interesting to see the way it went together thanks to the fine photography. Strange packaging for electrolytics; I've never seen that before!
Thanks! PB 2 is out, and it's electrically compatible with PB 1 and mechanically compatible with the "Cameo" adaptor board that Cameo/Aphid uses. Getting it to work would probably be a week's work of spare-time hobby time, the bulk of it likely in setting up the overlay files and so on.
But I...
