    Oh No! More Macs

"Macs on Tracks" for mac/train pictures? Anyone here volunteer at a heritage railway? ;-)

    Durosity’s conquests and collection

I only just noticed this... I know that some of us collectors are a bit odd but building a hidden room for stashing your 486s in seems perhaps a little excessive...

    Recent excavations

What attention? You know that it's just as easy to upload to the IA as basically any other file upload site right

    Recent excavations

why not just upload it to the IA to start with?

    Oh No! More Macs

If you like! I just like both macs and trains. The best I can offer you at the moment is an M1 on a class 166, which isn't really up to that standard on either point. I have a photo somewhere of the day I decided to try to transport two organ manuals on a class 221 though...

Anyone have a Powerbook 100 and a Floppy Emu?

I suspect what we're hitting here is the distinction between 'It works' and 'If someone phones up looking for tech support for this configuration, we will offer them useful advice'

Realtek RTL8139D PCI Network Card Compatible with a PowerMac 6500?

Wouldn't claim to be cleverer than you, but yes, it's PRAM, and it's opened early enough in boot that things like PRAM auto-restore won't auto-restore it (unless they special-case it which none of the tools I've seen do).

Realtek RTL8139D PCI Network Card Compatible with a PowerMac 6500?

Weird, I'd assume that "stopping OP going down a rabbit hole on totally spurious information" was contributing something worthwhile; I appreciate that in some circles it has become fashionable to make confident statements based on things pulled out of one's backside, but if you don't like being...

Realtek RTL8139D PCI Network Card Compatible with a PowerMac 6500?

This is so wrong that it can't even see 'correct' on a clear day with a telescope. Pre-OT, it'll be in the Network control panel. If there's no Network control panel, then the AppleTalk software isn't installed.

Is there a way to tell which SE/30's had Maxell batteries?

Another thing to note is that different vintage computer fandoms seem to have different battery companies they swear are the worst. Mac users hate Maxell; Acorn users in my experience tend to hate Varta, and it's probably just because there were more of that kind of battery in use. There...

Is there a way to tell which SE/30's had Maxell batteries?

It was a reasonable question! It's just the answer is 'no', I'm afraid.

    M0100 mouse button stopped working

According to the schematic, the mouse switch pin goes directly to pin 13 of the VIA. Might be worth buzzing that out to check the trace isn't damaged.

    M0100 mouse button stopped working

To confirm, the mouse pointer is working properly, it's just the button that is not working?

Is there a way to tell which SE/30's had Maxell batteries?

Yes; battery wise, you get what you get. I've seen machines in the UK with RS branded batteries, which is unusual to say the least.

    Radius Rocket Compatibility

I don't have much in the way of hard evidence for you, but there's a huge amount of random beliefs and occasional conspiracy theories about Rocket compatibility on the Internet, and it's best not to believe anything you read or are told unless you or the person telling you has recent definitive...
