Not sure what CPU you're talking about? The DP8341N is the 3270 receiver, datasheet here: https://www.smichips.com/datasheets/1/e9/e9db/e9db668b4a6e40d5a655cd943d90dc55.pdf. Its output appears to be a parallel bus, not serial, which would account for the bus drivers.
I think you're confusing WiFi generation and encryption standard here. The problem isn't so much there aren't any 11g drivers as that the OS 9 WiFi stack does not support WPA(2) even over 11b.
