Macintosh Classic II - Display Issue. Video Output With Corrupted Image

Yes, agreed, these ones are especially bad for caps being crappy. You will need to recap before you do much more, I'm afraid.

    Macintosh SE/30 replace processor MC68030RC16B to MC68030RC30C

It is entirely possible your CPU has failed. But if it has, it is not because it is an XC part, it is because in time all things will fail. The fact that your specific one that has failed has XC on the top of it is not really meaningful here, it's just noise.

    Transplanting 9-inch CRTs - A Journey

Your amber-mac is sitting in pride of place with the interesting compacts on the shelf :-D. I still love it.

Yeah was going to say, I'm not sure how I feel about this. Nonetheless, @Huttles, with that possible exception @finkmac's advice here is good...

    Transplanting 9-inch CRTs - A Journey

oh, the funny coloured phosphors are absolutely a large part of the allure. MacOS in amber is weird but rather pretty.

Is this too much $ and work for a noob.

Mostly echoing what people above have said: $50 is probably approximately reasonable - I think you slightly overpaid here for one without input devices but not by a very large amount. The 128/512/Plus generation (and probably the SE) is probably the easiest to work on for someone who isn't...

G3 AIO / Molar Mac Appreciation Thread

I do enjoy how much they look like a fever-dream compact, like if I'd spent all day trying to get an SE to work then eaten too much cheese before bed

Mac Classic II black screen and low voltages?

Welcome to the forum! The Classic / Classic II analogue board is... of questionable quality, shall we say. You are likely to need to replace the caps on it even if you can't see any leakage, because it gets quite warm and so things can dry out. I would personally suggest doing that before...

Tokamac Nubus card? Need help identifying

Well, this is the problem @Bolle alluded to above - you can't really clone the card without also cloning the modification to the IIfx LB, and that isn't available for cloning. As @Unknown_K says, the cloner wouldn't be able to check that their clone actually was correct or worked unless the...

    Durosity’s conquests and collection

I'm in Wiltshire and the situation is similar; patience is mostly what is called for and the willingness to pick stuff up in person rather than have it shipped. Also watching the trading post here; a lot of stuff just circulates around the UK MLA contingent. In the old days (earlier this...

Macintosh Color Classic - Intermittent Red/Other Colors

My bet is that it's still the one of the edge connectors. I've had issues like this where the only thing that fixed it was taking it apart and putting it back together several times until everything was just in the right place. Bloody awful machines, but weirdly charming when they work...

Help with identifying some cables and adapters

Mac serial to some kind of PC serial, at a guess? 25-pin is probably to plug into a modem, but that's not guaranteed. A LocalTalk box Difficult to tell without being able to see the mini-DIN more clearly AAUI 10BaseT transceiver Probably also Mac serial to PC-style serial.
