    Color Classic line across screen

So I've been fixing up a trio of CC. I have a strange symptom that I can't sort out. There's a horizontal line about two thirds of the way down the screen. It's very faint and honestly not a big deal, but I'd like to fix it if possible. At first I though it was just an anomaly, but this same...

Macintosh Color Display: How did I royally screw this up???

Could try cleaning PP1 and other pots with isopropyl / contact cleaner, turn them back and forth. Probably not the issue though. CL6 in the top right of pic 3 looks odd. I don't see any flaws in your work. Given the circumstances my instinct says loose cable connection or flaw in the wire...

Recapped Macintosh Classic with checkered screen

4.8v is still low. I don't think summer heat is the issue either, it gets toasty in that case regardless of the weather. This stuff is almost always PP1 in my experience, but you've replaced it. What's 12V at with the new pot? Have you tried cleaning and adjusting PP2? Contact cleaner and a few...

    A Color Classic saga

Re: case repair, I've had tremendous success with Tamiya's ABS cement, and their Tamiya Putty is excellent for filling gaps (putty is not ABS based, though, AFAIK.) If colour matching is important to you, you can make an ABS paste using acetone and wrecked pieces of Macintosh case, keep it in a...

    BlueSCSI troubleshooting

Right now you've got it terminated (with those two black jumpers), which is what you want if your device is the only one plugged in, or at the end of the SCSI chain.

    BlueSCSI troubleshooting

Yeah AFAIK you need four 10 pin arrays, two 220s and two 330s. Also, not sure if it would affect functionality or not, but there are typically two jumpers on the bluepill itself.

    BlueSCSI troubleshooting

One of those resistor arrays looks two pins short, I'd start there. Also I'd check the SD card holder for solder bridges.

    color classic dead screen

Not sure if you got this solved or not but I had the EXACT same issue, isolated it to the analog board. I was tearing my hair out and on the verge of replacing ICs like you. Turns out dust and dirt had accumulated in the main screen and focus pots along the side. The adjustment pots on the...

    Help with M1212 Display

I have the same squealing on my M1212, definitely the flyback. Seems like they're all falling victim to this trouble. The most likely source for a replacement would be someplace like HR Diemen. Seems they don't stock the exact replacement transformer anymore, but it's possible they have another...

Arduino SCSI device - Work in Progress

I'm running across more and more unauthorized price-gouging BlueSCSI sellers on ebay. Like this: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/353944090176 I report when I see them but it's usually ignored. What's the best way to get listings like this pulled?

Colour Classic - screen won´t turn on

Huh, that's an interesting suggestion. Audio is spotty on mine too, maybe it's all related to that edge connector. How did you finesse it to get a better fit?

Colour Classic - screen won´t turn on

I'm having the same issue. LB and AB completely recapped, same symptoms as you describe except soft start works on mine. Just no video. I tried another recapped LB in it, same issue, so very likely analog board related.

Nice little bonus found in Macintosh SE

That's totally it, thanks! Good info on that thread.

Nice little bonus found in Macintosh SE

I'll take a better picture when I get a sec. Would love to know the make and model of this card, if anyone recognizes it. No branding on either side, and the SE is out of commission with a bad drive.

Nice little bonus found in Macintosh SE

I paid a bit too much for this machine, but the universe rebalanced itself when I found this little PDS accelerator tucked inside. Can't find a brand but looks like a low cost (RP) 25mhz 030.

LC / LCII / LCIII / Q605 - Dyna Comp DCF 353 Power Supply Woes

DynaComp LC units are pretty easy to take apart and work on, IMO, (easier disassembly than TDKs) but there's an incredible amount of solder on the underside to contend with. Worth it, though. Nice neat little supplies.

    LC power supply recap question

Great, thanks! I figured that was the case but wanted to double check.

    LC power supply recap question

Hi, I'm in the process of recapping a bunch of LC power supplies. I can't find a reliable supply of large snap-in caps (180uf 400v.) They have to be very low profile, 25mm or less, or else you can't put the PSU back together. (I learned this the hard way.) Here's my question: will I run into...

    Backwards progress with SE/30

IMHO, before you go ordering replacement chips, I'd start by going over your work a second time. If it was working before the recap, and got simasimac after the recap, chances are your issue lies somewhere within the bounds of those 13 capacitors. You've done nice clean work, but a number of...

Don't use 16V SOLID Tantalum on SE/30 Motherboards

Yes I believe JDW went into self-imposed exile after the great 68kmla crash of summer 2021. I think you're fine. Not an electrical engineer, but I'd personally feel pretty safe with those tolerances.
