Ahh ok. it just seems like it would be the way to make this work the way I want to.
in an ideal world, a pi could emulate both the airtalk and ethertalk protocols simultaneously with netatalk, but ya know. Lotsa custom development at that point.
Has anyone plugged this device into an Asante Ethertalk to Localtalk bridge?
I would like to setup an Airtalk and Ethertalk network to the same fileserver.
ive noticed that with tunnel vision displays is a form of "stiction" where there is memory of the crystals stuck in place. Happens on a portable i have.
I wonder if its just the liquid crystal itself going bad or breaking down. Honestly idk at this point
Honestly I think in this case, you should pick up one of @Bolle reloaded SE/30 boards and move all the proprietary bits over to a new board and build it out. Best course of action here.
reverse engineer the original firmware to determine its functionality, recreate a new program in C and compile it to an AVR or PIC, using an adapter board. If you wanna get fancy, then ASM. haha.
Best case scenario.
those displays are dual-scan which this fault is of no surprise, you are probably missing a signal to the upper scan. look for rotten/broken traces/vias where the caps were.
Grab a scope and check for oscillation. That sound IC looks like an amplifier, etc. the sound is generated elsewhere as indicated by the sound input pin. Check the output, AND the input for oscillation/noise.
it is probably the driver IC to the printhead. there is a driver for each pin.
the drive transistor for the coil probably failed. I dont recall if all of the pin drivers are in a single IC or not, and if so, change the IC.
I do, and i replaced all the semiconductors in that section of the board with no change either. So i shelved it.
But it absolutely would not go into regulation, and i spent hours on that thing chasing voltages. the 47uf cap is also important as its a float charge smoothing cap.
I even moved...
