    Monitor "high resolution"monocrome MO400 arcing

I connected an LC 475 to a High-Resolution Monochrome Monitor MO400, specified for 640×480. https://lowendmac.com/1989/apple-high-resolution-monochrome-monitor/ The monitor produced an image for about 5 seconds, then emitted a loud crackling noise consistent with high-frequency arcing. I...

    LC/LCII Power Supply Replacements?

Yes, it’s the one with the black block and a Molex connector on the end. I read about it here in the forum, where someone mentioned using it. I thought that without an HD and an accelerator, it would be sufficient. The Mean Well RPT-60A is definitely better — for what it worth, it’s also sold...

Is my Performa 475 killing the VRAM?

The battery is "new", meaning a couple of years old, left sitting in a drawer. I will: - use a new button-battery with the silicon insider adapter - do a recal - double test the PSU But the VRAM SIMM are really not working anymore now :( g "I'll be back"

Is my Performa 475 killing the VRAM?

Ok, I got a very nice-looking Performa 475 with a network card, HD, VRAM, RAM — but missing the PSU. I temporarily added a known-good PSU from another LC. The capacitors look fine. I even removed one to check underneath, and it confirmed no visible leakage. A very very nice board! Boot time...

    LC/LCII Power Supply Replacements?

Is this a dead thread? I'm planning to use an HD IDE PSU for a Performa 475. The lack of -5V means I’ll lose LocalTalk support — not a big deal, but not ideal either. My main concern is the power requirements. An HD IDE PSU provides 2A on both +5V and +12V rails. Is that enough for a Performa...

    2N6394 equivalent

Hi everyone, I have a faulty 2N6394 (Q8) in the Analogue Board of a Mac Plus. Is there an equivalent thyristor I can use? I found 2N6395 sold by Aliexpress, I'm not sure what I will get ... I'm willing to try it, I don't have other options. Is it? thanks

    Classic analog board restarting

Hi mates, I have an analogue board from a Mac Classic that wasn’t working. There was visible corrosion from a leaking capacitor, but it seemed fairly isolated. I’ve now replaced all the capacitors, and I’m getting a steady 5V and 12V from the Molex connector with the digital board...

Mac SE 30 floppy drive head issue

the pull-down string is at the back. under the upper arm, check it out. There are 3 or 4 tents where you can adjust the pressure on the heads, I was able to recover a couple of drives in this way

Get an old Mac on the web?

I've been using this for a while, the problem I have is that it can not save bookmarks. Also editing text on a web page, like in a search box, is a little cumbersome, but for point and click it's ok

Mac Classic 1.44mb Drive Issue - Video Attached

Weird that after the insertion of the disk, the heads do not move back and forth to align with track 0. It's hard to tell, the initialization is a blind process, and the validation checks/reads if it was performed by reading back. I'd check the pressure on the heads, there is a small spring in...

    End of battery-bombed SE/30 restoration?

I have a similar issue with a bombed SE/30, in my case the short is across A8 and A9, and I was not able to find where it is. https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/salvaging-bombed-se-30-rom-lines-a-8-a-9-shorted.48612/ I guess the acid went down inside the PCB in a via and it shorted two...

    Carrera040 & RominatorII on SE/30 compatibility issues

No worries @croissantking , it's clearly a very rare circumstance here. You offered a refund on a private conversation, very kind of you. We will work it out. A different ROM image is not the culprit because it boots from my SD, my image. An electronic issue? It might be, but it's outside of...

    Carrera040 & RominatorII on SE/30 compatibility issues

k, I got news. I installed a RominatorII I got from Siliconinsider, ... and it all works just fine. Same SD card with the same boot image: 7.5.5 Graycake, Ethernet, Cache, Carrera040 work without a single issue. I reinstalled the one I got from @croissantking and the boot issues start. Back...
