    Skipping the Startup Memory Test

After 6 cycles, I only saw changes in the NVRAM section of DumpNameRegistry, and in that NVRAM section, there were roughly two dozen bytes changing. Looking at the actual bits and comparing it to whether it was a fast boot or a slow boot, I was able to narrow it down to around a dozen candidate...

    Skipping the Startup Memory Test

Haha, fair enough. :) I did use @joevt tool (btw, your library of tools are awesome!) across 6 different power up cycles (3 with memory check enabled and 3 with memory checked disabled). I see various bytes that changed across these reboots. Will be looking at them to see if I see a pattern.

    Skipping the Startup Memory Test

Thanks as usual @joevt. For the DumpNameRegistry, is that something that will run in MacOS 8.6 or ? If it's a built binary, I can unzip it fine on my Mac OS X machine but lose any resource forks. I can't for some reason uncompress it on my OS 8.6 PowerMacintosh. Could be something written on...

    Skipping the Startup Memory Test

My Power Macintosh 8500 came with 1GB of memory. Do I really need that much? No. But nonetheless, the massive delay on power up due to the memory check is painful. There are a lot of references to using the hidden option in the Memory control panel to disable this check. I decided to try it and...

    SuperMac Spectrum 24/V Display Problems

Hey Paul, wanted to check if you ever got a chance to work on that write up? That chip is interesting and wanted to learn as much as I can. Hope you have been well.

Quadra 840AV and LC III are finished, and joining the others. Not pictured are my Mac II, SE/30, 512K, Quadra 950, and PowerBook 3400c. Thinned the herd down a bit... for now. Hmm, there might be room for another IIci/IIcx/Quadra700 next to the IIfx... hmm..

    The Zigintosh SE/47 lives!

+1 point for both the use of Zigintosh as well as Turducken (one of these days I will find the time to attempt to prepare one of these for Thanksgiving).

Oh duh... forgot about the key switch... need to check if that's why the ADB port isn't responding... EDIT: yup, it was the key.. ADB is fine. Cool.

Received that Corsair HX1200 PSU and temporarily connected it to the Quadra 950 logic board via a breakout board. Yup, the PSU was dead. The logic board chimes and is booting. The only issue is the ADB port doesn't work. Tried a couple mice, tried a couple keyboards, nothing. Nothing visually...

Corsair HX1200 (not the HX1200i which only does 25A). It’s discontinued but you can get them used around $40-$60.

Yeah, saw a bunch of threads mentioning this. I am not going to bother trying to get the PSU working. I found a modern PSU that has independent regulation of every power rail and puts out 30A for 5V. Picking one up used in a few days so will see if that will work as a replacement.

Not Macintosh related... but I've been distracted working on a project with my kid to build a full arcade cabinet for the Japanese version of Capcom's Street Fighter Alpha 3 (Zero 3). We've finally collected everything we need including power supply, 4:3 20" LCD monitor (wish we could find...
