Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
At this stage it may not be productive or economical to spend more money on this bluescsi. Consider ordering a pre-assembled one instead of a kit, or one of the other scsi drive replacements which come already assembled.
There are several issues with this assembly. As @Daniël points out, that SD card slot is probably shorting scsi termination power. Every time you turn this on you're testing the machine's scsi fuse. (Not a good thing.)
I started working on an HDD noise simulator a few years ago. It was perhaps overambitious relative to my actual interest, as I was intending to characterize the sound of various classic drives, produce noises based on distance the head had to move and read/write block size, etc. At this point it...
The current software encapsulates LocalTalk over UDP. I believe for #5, that would also be true. It wouldn't be EtherTalk; you couldn't for example connect an Ethernet-enabled Mac to it and it be able to connect to the AppleTalk network, because it wouldn't know how to speak LToUDP. You'd have...
No. That converts LocalTalk cabling from 8 pin mini din (Mac serial) to UTP/CatX cable. It sends AppleTalk over network cables, much as the PhoneNet adapters send AppleTalk over phone cables. Cheesestraws is talking about sending AppleTalk over an actual Ethernet network.
I'm the shadowy person doing the enclsoure that cheesestraws has been hinting about. Attempting here to do a snow white inspired design. It's intended to be 3d printed. Here's a render of the overall dimensions. There are details remaining to add such as holes for the ADB ports, holes for the...
A lot of people have trouble getting their disk images set up on their SD cards. They want something that is simple and plug-and-play. But I don't know that this solves that problem. I have the impression that a lot of people need to be able to access the drive from their modern computer. To do...
Thanks for looking into this, @tashtari , and writing up a very helpful summary! Apple must have made some optimizations to get the the firmware down to exactly 512 words... Maybe we can come up with one more optimization to make room for TRIS register initialization. Not my idea of fun though...
I might have a single SE/30 with PGA, if I recall correctly. The others are *all* QFP. Among the reasons I haven't ordered a batch of these boards yet.
The disassembly is included in the zip. Trying to troubleshoot based on Ghidra decompiled C is probably not going to be very helpful, in my experience.
Did you produce an appropriate hex file? I was messing around with that, I could check my notes.
Oh, right. I would be surprised if they weren't compatible, but someone would have to make an adapter or a board revision with a SSOP/SOIC footprint.
And if you manage to program an ATF16V with PIC code, I will be extremely impressed. 😄
For the 342S0440, you can try programming your own PIC16CR54 with the firmware here: https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/mac-se-adb-controller.38363/ It hasn't been proven to work yet though.
For the 344S0602, you need to get one from a broken original SE/30. At that point, you might as...
