I'm a bit old fashioned, so I like the Bomarc schematic (attached). However, there is a thread on this forum with a text-searchable version from a different source.

BTW: If it is the keylock, then the floppy drive won't work either. So, you could always toss a disk in and see if it reads and shows up on the desktop. If it does, then ADB is the problem.
For a quick check, measure the voltage on the adb connector. If you have an oscilloscope, you can also watch for the Mac to poll the ADB devices on pin 1. That should give you a sense for whether the keyboard/mouse lockout is software or a circuit problem.
Thank you @jmacz, @mattsoft, and @JackRubin!
Adrian from Adrian's Digital Basement made a comment in a recent video regarding old analog monitors. Paraphrasing, he said "These are never going to made again, so I'd rather fix them than send them to a landfill." That's how I feel about everyone...
I concur. This is really a huge leap forward. It's not just the speed -- SCSI can be flaky on repaired machines.
I remain optimistic that this tariff war is short term. The world is truly a global economy and there's no going back.
I recently bought a Macintosh SE/30 with missing pixels / bad video. I thought it would help others to walk through how I found the fault.
Below, we see an image a startup image with the "insert disk icon" in the middle and the cursor on the upper-left. The cursor follows the moving mouse. This...
@Garrett B -- now what you really care about. I also got a bus error on boot.
Switching the Memory to 32-bit addressing fixed this. Everything is stable with System 7.1, Mac IIci, 32-bit addressing, and 3.1 Sonnet Presto extension.
Running Norton Utilities and TattleTech confirms the 68040...
@Garrett B Your card (25th week 1997) is newer than mine (29th week of 1996).
Differences:
* Yours says "Sonnet Technologies, Inc". Mine says "Donoho Design Group, Inc.".
* Mine has two bodge wires. Yours has the traces added.
* Mine has a bodge resistor. Yours doesn't.
Hilariously, they...
It's a bit of a leap, but I've had a trace beep showing good continuity when actually:
1. The break occurs just as the trace reaches the pad. The pressure of pushing on pin/pad during testing caused it to temporarily connect. Being really gentle or using an IC clip may reveal the actual break...
Very interesting write up. I like that you provide your approach even if it didn't solve the specific issue to your board, as other people can follow that approach for their board.
I envy Commodore 64 owners that can plug in a 'dead test' cartridge that overrides the CPU and accesses the...
A key to @finkmac 's instructions is the recommendation to try it in 24-bit mode. Very few cards accelerate all video modes. For example, I found an "accelerated" card that only accelerated copybits and scroll, and only in 24-bit mode.
So, it is worth trying millions of colors, if you haven't...
That is a very wise suggestion. I recently read an article about how museums separate items into pieces (if it can be done non-destructively) for storage. This provides two benefits: each piece can be stored in ideal conditions for its material, and secondly, pieces don't damage each other (due...
I wasn't actually going to try to repair the bad board. But, I followed your S24/V repair saga religiously. So, now I feel obligated to make an attempt. :p
My SuperMac board features MT42C4064 dual-ported VRAM chips. Each chip only has 4 bits of output. So, SuperMac connected the same column...
No, not really. Here's what I've tried so far:
1. Set up two monitors (left: internal IIci, right bad board) 640x480 B&W. Opened up SimpleText and dragged a mainly white screen across the width. Took a screenshot in the Mac. It also sees a scrambled display. So, this is a memory/interface...
In an earlier post, I expressed curiosity about an unpopulated connector on the original SuperMac Spectrum 8 video card. Someone mentioned that the Series II version of the card has a second connector that is populated. On eBay, I found two of the Series II cards, although they are often not...
Yes, they made it quite flexible. The filename doesn't matter. All that matters is the creator/file type and whether the gbly supports the machine ID and has a newer timestamp than others. After that, if it contains a 'lodr' then that is executed. So, you don't need 'lpch' resources. You could...
