Solid-State Drive Options for PowerBook 1400?

Any SD card I’ve used in a 1400 loaded things faster than the original HD. If you don’t “trust” them, back up your stuff. What serious work are you doing in a 1400 anyway.

Solid-State Drive Options for PowerBook 1400?

Basically anything will work fast enough on a 1400.

should I kill a black adb mouse II ?

I just meant if it were a perfect specimen that was preserved with no issues, and one decided to hack it up, that would be a travesty. Since it’s already coming apart, do what you want with it.

Create MFS partition on a HD

MFS by nature doesn’t REALLY support folders, since it is not hierarchical in nature. The folders made under an MFS system don’t appear in Open dialog boxes, etc. That may be why it is grayed out.

Dude, if it's already crumbling to pieces, I say go with the laser.

    The dual PRAM battery 1400c/166

The interesting thing is that it isn't touched on in the repair manual either.

    The dual PRAM battery 1400c/166

Thank you for that! This is a good explanation for what otherwise was a mystery. Now...why do some have it and others not...especially when there is a space for it on the ones that don't have the battery.

    Fast! CompactFlash for Macintosh PDS/NuBus

Small suggestion: why not mount the CF holder on an angle so you can access and slide out the CF card while the unit is installed in the chassis?

Solid-State Drive Options for PowerBook 1400?

Forget all that CF stuff. Just get an SD to IDE adapter on Amazon for $10 and you’ll be good to go...

68030 accelerator for the Macintosh Portable, redux.

All power is drawn from the battery, so that’s what all that depends on.

I really wanted this to happen.

    Rediscovering my old obsession

Yes, and that's why my kids use all my old Macs and don't have phones or iPads. I actually gave my daughter a refurbished PowerBook 1400 for Christmas to learn typing and play games.

How to delete second network interface after removing network device?

How many zones do you have? Also, I would think that part of the issue here is not the Dayna emulation, but maybe the actual WiFi itself isn’t connecting until after startup. That wouldn’t know how to rectify.

How to delete second network interface after removing network device?

Interesting, I now see what you are saying. So if you mount them via the Chooser immediately after being able to access the Finder, they work fine?

How to delete second network interface after removing network device?

Here is a workaround for now. If you are running System 7 or up, put an alias of the shared drive in the Startup Items folder.

Transfer C source file from modern Mac to Classic Mac (Basilisk II)

I’d use ResEdit to look up the type/creator code of a .h made in System 7, and just put those into the one copied from OS X. Use ”Get Info…” in ResEdit on each respective file.

    Designing Firewire card for Mezzanine??

Interesting. The only issue is that that would leave us beholden to people scalping PC Card FW adapters at $250 a pop…whereas a purpose made slot cars would probably cost less.

    Fast! CompactFlash for Macintosh PDS/NuBus

Wow that’s…darn incredible. If you do manage a NuBus one, that would be a great IIfx mate!

    Designing Firewire card for Mezzanine??

Don’t forget the griffin iPort! I’ve got one. Overall sounds like a neat idea. In the meantime, is Ethernet not good enough?
