    Baby's first PCB

LOL! I soldered the wrong side of the headers to the card.

    Baby's first PCB

I think that the round machined pin headers are too large in diameter. I'll try to desolder them and replace them with buss wires.

    Baby's first PCB

My GALs are also 15ns. I just tested the upgrade card in my Macintosh Plus and it does work. The only problem is that it's very hard to mount on top of the 68000, I can't even push it in all the way. There's a lot of resistance. I soldered a machined pin socket on top of the 68000, and machined...

    Baby's first PCB

Yes. I fixed the Afterburner, it was a problem with the on/off switch. I bought the wrong type of switch from DigiKey so I substituted another harvested from an old fax modem but it didn't function exactly as expected. The switch was connecting VPP to the wrong pad so I soldered a bodge wire and...

    Bitcoin Mining on Mac Classic

Twist the code into pretzels so it'll crash an emulator but not real hardware

    Baby's first PCB

Upgrade almost fully assembled... I didn't buy a PGA-128 socket for the 68030, instead I used several machined pin headers. Just waiting on GALs because I also built a GAL programmer for Arduino, but it doesn't identify any GALs inserted and I don't know why.

Tokamac Nubus card? Need help identifying

PAL is a programmable logic chip, if someone got a hold of this particular Donoho PAL they could read out or reverse engineer the logic it was programmed with and write that to new PALs or GALs. But I guess the person who owns this special IIfx logic board is a total douchecanoe for not donating...

Macintosh Plus issues with analogue board

They say Y, replace with Y2

Macintosh Plus issues with analogue board

Book says replace with at least 35V rating. The ones you picked will do the job

Macintosh Plus issues with analogue board

CR1 is in the flyback circuit, so mains voltage doesn't matter. The book says 3A diodes were originally used, they should be replaced with at least 5A rated diodes.

Macintosh Plus issues with analogue board

Yes. Actually the diodes aren't mentioned in "The Dead Mac Scrolls" but rather the earlier "Macintosh Repair & Upgrade Secrets" https://archive.org/details/mac_Macintosh_Repair_Upgrade_Secrets_1990/page/n145/mode/2up

Macintosh Plus issues with analogue board

Blackened leg on diode looks bad. See "Dead Mac Scrolls" about replacing it

    Baby's first PCB

PCBs have arrived. I made a few small changes since the last time I showed the design. JLCPCB made five of these for $2.07 and shipped to USA for $9.19

    Interest Check: A 'walled-garden' service

Like others have said earlier what's the point of such a niche network for one specific brand of old computer? I'm not saying you shouldn't go for it but I wouldn't bother. At least you'll learn something

    Interest Check: A 'walled-garden' service

I don't understand what would make this different from any other indie WWW construct. You point to tailspins caused by a lack of "content" but don't elaborate what makes your proposal stand apart and where you're gonna get free content. If I really want "an ad-and-AI-free, curated, small" social...

why can't this be for vintage PCs too

    Interest Check: A 'walled-garden' service

The term "walled-garden" was an immediate turn off for me I think the only useful sect of this scheme would be multiplayer games, you could do everything else on a Unixen box with the Macintosh just acting as a terminal.

Only half of screen showing on PowerBook 100 (red solid color on rest)

I had basically the same problem with the panel in my PowerBook 160. Hope you figure it out
