This machine ran 3.0.1 fine for two weeks before I tried the 3.1 upgrade, so I know the system works.
I don't know, I've only ever done reboots. I suspect it would just put up a "safe to turn off" screen.
I suppose it's possible something like that happened. I'll try a fresh install this weekend.
My pet project lately has been getting A/UX going on an SE/30. This project went fine - I even succeeded in installing 3.0.1 off of an unsupported DVD-ROM - until I tried to upgrade to 3.1.

I installed successfully off of a SCSI-1 Pioneer DVD-303S-A with the 512-byte-block jumper set. I'm installing the AWS 95 Software Update (3.0.x -> 3.1) with the same drive as I write this post.
