    Classic Networking

Thanks again. I tried unique IP addresses for each machine to no avail. Footnote - I can network (via ethernet) my PPC7600 to my iMac and my iMac to my G3 but I can't seem to network the G3 to the PPC7600. I may install the router between them to see if that will work.

Assigning each a static address makes sense to me. Is that as simple as manually assigning the addresses in TCP/IP or do I need to connect a router in between them and do so through admin?

Thanks. I have Appletalk on and set to ethernet on both the PPC7600 and the G3. Still can't get them to connect using the chooser.

    Classic Networking

I have two older Macs (PPC7600 and G3 B&W) that I want to network. The PPC7600 is running OS 7.5 and the G3 is running OS 8.6 I have both HD's named and set for sharing. I have the two machines connected with a crossover cable via ethernet and Appletalk/TCPIP set for ethernet. Both machines...

    SE & OS 6.0.8

Thanks. I downloaded Apple's 5.3.1 driver and it mounts the 300e on the SE just fine. Footnote - I tried CD Sunrise v2.2 and Power CD drivers to no avail. Seems the 300e prefers the Apple brand driver in this case.

    SE & OS 6.0.8

The screws on the internal HD cover are stripped so i can't access the dip switches. Do you think setting the external to slave will make both drives mount on the desktop? Thanks.

    SE & OS 6.0.8

Thank you Tom. I'll give it a try. I have one additional question about the HD on my SE... The 1987 SE 800k has an internal 120MB HD with SCSI set to ID=0. I have an external 120MB HD connected through the SCSI port, also has a SCSI ID=0. I don't know how to change the ID for the external as...

    SE & OS 6.0.8

I'm trying to get my Apple 300e external CDROM player to work with my SE running OS 6.0.8 I know the 300e works with OS 7 but the specs tell me it will go back to 6.0.7 with the proper driver. Can anyone help me locate a driver or should I try to find a copy of FWB's CDROM Toolkit?

Yes, it's connected. I may just reformat it.

    Maxtor HD

I have a question about my Maxtor 7120SR (external) HD... This 120MB drive has been working perfectly in an external case using an external terminator. I usually keep the SCSI ID set to 5 because I use it for installations back and forth with three other computers. I changed the SCSI ID to 0...

Could I use the ROM chips from the Centris 650?

    Mac SE 800k

I have a 1987 model SE with one 800k internal drive and a 120 MB internal hard drive. I would like to switch the 800k floppy drive out with a 1.44 floppy drive that I pulled from a working Centris 650. Is this siomply a matter of switching them out or do I need to do something else?

    Internal Modem

I have a Centris 650 with the internal modem that was installed at the factory. I would like to move the modem to a G3 Blue/White tower. Is the modem compatible with the G3?
