Maybe the reason Commodore was running out of money and dying is because they were selling below costs.

I agree with you but I also think it goes back even further to the IIci. That machine is where Apple really proved they could make a solid graphical workstation at an affordable price.
It wasn't superior tech it was higher prices, the HP 320 had a starting price of $8510. The only thing that stopped Apple or Commodore from using those high end parts was the fact that no home user would pay those prices.
The 3/60, like most 68k workstations of the time, uses a custom MMU on the motherboard since apparently nobody liked the 68851. And I forgot to list it but AVEC is grounded. I've already done some limited testing with a normal 68030 and the machine seems to work fine, so when I have some free...
Looking over the 3/60 schematics I have found some differences.
CDIS = pullup
MMUDIS = pulldown
CIOUT = NC
CIIN = pullup
CBREQ = NC
CBACK = Vcc
STERM = Vcc
There maybe some more, the schematics are hard to read at times.
Unfortunately there are no schematics for the 3/80. A few years back someone was talking about sanding a board down to take photos of the traces but nothing came of it as far as I know. The 3/60 is a different story tho as we have full schematics and PAL equations for the board. I'll look into...

I would be interested in this as it looks like it would fit the 3/80 much better. Lack of an FPU doesn't bother me as the 3/80 supports running the FPU at 40MHz which is good enough. I Just need to figure out how to get it to work on the machine.
Hello all, posting to report my success and failures with a booster. This may sound crazy but I got a booster a while back when I don't actually have an SE/30, I actually got it to try on a sun 3/60 and sun 3/80.
First on the 3/80 the booster unfortunately does not fit directly, not surprising...
