    eMate 300

Yup. I'm familiar. I've actually had my MP2100 with me as a daily carry item since I repaired it Saturday. Daily alarm, calendar, and note taking on it is wonderful.

    eMate 300

I must apologize for anybody that lost the auction because I sniped it at the last second for ~$120.... Wasn't expecting to win the auction LOL. Alas, I am the proud new owner of perhaps the cheapest working eMate sold in recent times. Included the power adapter (now I've got two! I can keep...

Newton MessagePad 2100 - Cap Replacement / Repair

..... Out to pasture? 😅 Love the Newton platform. I've transferred my Google calendar over and have begun transferring my contacts. So far I've enjoyed this far more than I ever enjoyed using Google services. I set up my PowerBook with NCU, Claris Organizer, and Apple Works

Newton MessagePad 2100 - Cap Replacement / Repair

A little over 3 years ago, I acquired a MessagePad 2100 (in my case, a 2000 model Apple upgraded to a 2100 noted by the MP2100 sticker near the interconnect port). A neat device, I was planning to actually use mine and track setlists for my favorite band when I went to live shows. Not long after...

Finally acquired my first Newton... no serial adaptor

The 1x0 series MessagePad has a lot better repair documentation (perhaps because the 2x00 series have only just started to fail). I'm hoping I can successfully get this back online and document the process.

Finally acquired my first Newton... no serial adaptor

Long time, no see. Howdy folks! Shortly after this post (and subsequent interconnect dongle acquisition from a fellow forum user) the Newton stopped powering on entirely, so it went into a box for the last three years (almost exactly to the day!!) Fast forward to a few days ago, I finally...

Finally acquired my first Newton... no serial adaptor

...among a haul that also included 4 Palms and an Apple iie system (which I've also been after for a while). All units desperately need cleaned, which I can do at my work (we clean and repair electronic point of sale hardware). It's an MP2000 with the MP2100 upgrade sticker, a pcmcia modem, and...

    Apple eMac

Hah funny story... While using it and installing TenFourFox, Classic mode, and Quake III the CRT suddenly shut down and wouldn't come back. I had almost given up hope for it, as it was just $15, when I thought "old computers could pretty easily be fixed by a big whack on the side". And what do...

    Apple eMac

Ah nevermind... For some reason it wouldn't take my 10.2 disc. Upgraded to 1gb of ram and replaced the battery. Putting 10.4 on it :)

    Apple eMac

Only one issue... It refuses to boot from CD, even though it can read them just fine.

So much for trying to make space.... But for $15 I couldn't pass it up.
