    Rare PCI card

That's unlikely. The 68020 was a very common embedded processor. Processors on PCI cards (add-in cards in general) are very common. As has been said, Becton-Dickinson, whose name is visible along the right edge, make medical equipment. This is meant to plug into some box in a lab or hospital...

Introducing ZuluSCSI Blaster - now with More Cowbell!

I finally ordered one from your European distributor + a DAC board, but then they came back and said they were sending me a new 2026 version instead with a built-in DAC? Seems cool! I can't seem to find a list of differences, though? Also, I'm really curious about the I2C control board that's...

Phoenix: Open-Source NuBus FPGA Accelerator for 68040 Macs

Interesting idea! You mention some music/audio related functionality. I would encourage you to look at Digidesign's Sound Accelerator/Audiomedia and SampleCell cards. The Sound Accelerator and Audiomedia cards were basically a Motorola 56k DSP chip with its "host port" connected via Nubus and...

If you could bring back classic Mac OS software, what would it be?

There's an audio editor called SoundMaker that has enough interesting quirks that I keep returning to it. I wish I had the source code for it, or even just the SDK to write plug-ins. There's just something about the interface. Word 5.1 was also pretty great.

Geethree G4+ “Stealth Serial Port” PCI slot bracket

Measurements? Nope. But I have a USB Micro Lite and a serial MIDI Timepiece and the difference was pretty apparent when I compared. Maybe it depends on a number of things. And I think I heard Logic does some special timestamping stuff with Emagic USB interfaces that makes it better. But either...

Geethree G4+ “Stealth Serial Port” PCI slot bracket

Yeah, Classic isn't useful for anything more advanced than playing back a single sound file. Also, to be clear, USB MIDI is a lot better on OS X. Good enough for me, certainly.

Geethree G4+ “Stealth Serial Port” PCI slot bracket

    > which is pretty much the only advantage this setup has over straight USB adapters. On OS 9 machines at least, there's a real difference in timing accuracy when using serial MIDI interfaces compared to USB. So if you're using your Macs to make music with external synthesizers, a serial MIDI...

How to use your ZuluSCSI RP2040 as a USB-attached SCSI controller

I don't remember to what extent I've bothered you about this before, but: There once was a protocol for called SMDI for SCSI-equipped samplers (musical instruments) that allowed moving sounds between the sampler's RAM and a program on a computer. So you could record something into the sampler...

NanoMac, a candy bar sized FPGA Mac Plus / PlusToo

M and Max are both fabulous applications the deserve to be preserved, I'm so happy to see this work being done. Another one is Opcode Galaxy, which is an editor and librarian for hardware MIDI synths, much like Sound Diver.

The one keyboard to rule them all

Random old keyboard idea I once had: I once bolted a bit of code onto TMK where you could switch the keyboard into a "daisy chain" mode so instead of sending HID packages over USB, it would send them over the UART but prefixed with a number based n the hot key. So you'd press hotkey + 2, and...

    Checkmate Retro LCD Monitor

I do have a few Dell displays that take anything, but I liked the look of this and the promise of internal expandibility (that MiSTer carrier looks swell). But lack of SoG might kill it for me. It feels a bit like it's targetted at a generation earlier, Amigas and 8-bitters.

    Checkmate Retro LCD Monitor

Did anybody get one of the Checkmate monitors? They appear to be generally available now, I'm wondering how they'd work with, say, a Quadra 700. I like the look and the ability to maybe connect up a few systems. Even Haiku is pretty decent at 1280x1024.

This looks great. Hope it comes to a European reseller soon.

The Pro Audio Spectrum 16 NuBus's YMF262 FM synthesizer...

That is extremely impressive work. Well done!
