Doing some new tests with the DaynaFILE. I've mentioned before that if you try to format a 5.25 inch floppy in the DaynaFILE as HFS, it will fail. I have found a program called "Disk Charmer" which does some kind of a quick format on disks and allows you to switch back and forth from DOS, HFS...
What kind of custom controller is it? Just having the Atari plug doesn't mean Atari compatible. Systems like the Genesis and the Vertex have the same plug, but are electrically different. Easiest solution is to get an Atari 2600 joystick and try it out.

I don't know. I've heard the USB 2.0 SCSI adapters need drivers. I know the one like mine that use the "Shuttle Technology" chipset are USB 1.1 and don't need drivers. You can buy them here. https://www.yoycart.com/Product/561501395767/
