Ok, so in this thread or another one I said I sold my G5 and bought a Mac Mini... I was NOT impressed with the Mini.
People said it would run circles around the G5, Somethings it did somethings it didn't.
And snow leopard, yawn.... just an update....
So I recently bought off of ebay a PMG5...
I do like the all in one's, I really never liked the original imac... I had one but never really like the design... the imac g5 bla..... emac too bulky......
the imac g4... AHHHHH!!!!! nice...
Thanks...
I just installed a 500GB Pata Western digital with 16MB cache 7200RPM for 76.00 at best buy.. cheaper than the internet...
I noticed the difference right away!!! the old seagate was 5400 but slow... Even web pages come up faster...
I'm happy.... VERY Happy!!!!
this is a very...
Thanks... I've always loved this design, I've been search ebay but they are too much and the condition of some of them is horrible..
At least on CL I can haggle, ebay you cannot.
This isn't the fastest mac but I have a Mac Mini 2009, see my sig...
I just like the iMac...
Last night from Craigslist, the LCD is bright and the arm is tight.
The guy told me that this was hardly used.
I got it for 130.00 with speakers, mouse and keyboard.
This powerbook MUST of been used as a desktop replacement...
The G4 seems to be a long life CPU... I remember getting a PM G4 400mhz in 99... I don't remember if the G3 has a long useful life like the G4...
But the powerbook handles everything I throw at it...
So I can honestly say the Mac Mini IS faster than the G5, it runs m games faster and smoother, Adobe runs alot faster...
I don't use the internal hdd I use the FW800 connected to the mini with my 1TB hdd.
The 17" is portable... I bring it places, I had a 15" and same thing it portable.
The 12" are nice but a bit too small for me.
now there was a HP with, I believe a 21 inch screen that was a monster.. that's not portable at all...
My games work well under the mac mini, as I sold the G5 on ebay for 750.00 + 35.00 shipping.
Given the fact that the G5 was a good computer it was also huge and no-a-days I'd like the smallest computer.
The mini is 2lbs the G5 48lbs.
480 watts for the G5; 100 watts for the mini...
I also...
It's the early 2005 model...
But I was really shocked that it doesn't have any dents or scratches on it... I saw the pictures on ebay but you cannot tell or I really do not go by the seller either... But to my surprise!
Also the battery say's 40 cycles only so the battery is either fairly new...
For: Defor:
You can say what you want that is your opinion and that's fine.
But my point it that I don't have 3-5K to keep up with the LAGS (Latest and greatest Syndrome) I have more important things in my life like my 3 yr old daughter than to worry or spend money upgrading year after year...
