Building an internal grayscale card for the SE/30

I have to say I’m impressed Bolle got the card to work in 1 and 8-bit mode, that was the one thing holding me back. And if somebody really needs it NOW and has money to burn, it seems like someone is selling one of Bolle’s grayscale prototype cards on eBay for a hefty price tag...

SE/30 MacOS 8.1 weird drive problem

Thanks for the suggestion @mikes-macs, that did the trick. I had to reinstall the system after using drive setup, but it works now, thanks!

Building an internal grayscale card for the SE/30

@joshc, probably a stupid question, but how did you get a fullscreen wallpaper working in system 7?

Building an internal grayscale card for the SE/30

@Paulie, are you able to switch between 8-bit and 1-but graphics mode?

I’m also very interested in this card, but first let’s see if @Bolle is able to make enough of these cards for all of us

SE/30 MacOS 8.1 weird drive problem

I have a weird problem that I’ve never seen before, perhaps someone here knows what’s wrong and how to solve the problem: On my SE/30 (128MB RAM), I made 3 2GB drives on my SCSI2SD card (SCSI ID 0,1,2). One for system 6, and one for system 7, both installed and works fine. The last one...

will this sata card be botable in a rev2 G3? BW

I just wanted to say thank you! I had difficulties finding a bootable SATA card for my PowerMac G4, but because of your message I was able to buy the last one of these SATA cards!

Building an internal grayscale card for the SE/30

Wow, I’m really impressed what you did and what’s still possible with the Mac SE/30, well done! Will that become an option to turn on/off via a control panel?

Building an internal grayscale card for the SE/30

Thanks for the explanation again @GeekDot, that clears up a lot of uncertainties I had. I hope that you and @Bolle are able to figure out how this "switch" works, that would make the card a whole lot more useful. In any case, I'm really impressed what you guys have done so far. Ever since I was...

Building an internal grayscale card for the SE/30

Thanks for sending the comparison GeekDot! I also found out the Color Classic actually has the same processor speed as the SE/30, so now my concerns are basically gone. I do have another question though. As far as I can tell from reading this forum, and also by seeing your picture of the...

Building an internal grayscale card for the SE/30

Thanks for the explanation Byrd! In that case it would probably not be very useful without an accelerator, but cool it’s possible nonetheless.

Building an internal grayscale card for the SE/30

I’m new to this forum and I’m probably asking a dumb question, but would 256 greyscale graphics significantly slow down the speed of the Mac?
