They'll be similar if not the same. 6100s would probably have the Houdini 2 card in a PPC PDS to 040 PDS riser. I believe the 610s could have the Houdini 1 (slower 486 CPU and no sound card vs the Houdini 2).
I have a similar arrangement in an Osborne that allows using an external switch to choose between the stock ROM and a 3rd party ROM by just toggling the high address line. Don't know why that wouldn't work here too (y)
Understandable...and when you do get around to it, don't "reflow the whole board" right of the bat. Try just reflowing the socket for the cable from the logic board first. That's a common spot for cracked solder joints.
