I'm running mine in a 9600 donor case, as think that would have been the most likely basis for any 9700 case.
I seem to remember the evt boards had different video chips on depending on what evt they were.
Hi @joevt,
So I bought an evt pm9700 off a forum member late 2000s.
I was able to get it to bot my borrowing the Digibarns rom.
In terms of the implementation it looks like there is development open firmware on 2x flash able chips, and then this hands over to the rom simm (when present) that...
Hi,
Has anyone got a PSU for a Quicksilver G4 and willing to open it up to see the values of 2 large capacitors in it?
I've started recapping mine and first removed 2 large ones a while ago that I've misplaced and need to find the V and uF values on.
@trag any possiblity you could whip up some TriPEX PLCC ROMs (I have the equipment but it's buried after a house move) so I could also test these with the ROM DIMMs and see any differences too? Ship to @mg.man so he could bring along with the rest?
Amazing! This is so cool that it's working. Thanks so much to the skills of @trag in fabricating and making these.
I can't believe that over a decade since it was pointed out that the DigiBarn pex had a ROM DIMM, wrangling to borrow it from Bruce, and then some technical experimentation to get...
As a slight tangential aside - https://www.downtowndougbrown.com/programmable-mac-rom-simms/ and http://www.bigmessowires.com/mac-rom-inator-ii/
Wonder if something like this is adaptable for later ROM SIMMs....
Apols if I've missed this - did we have a full dump of your ROM at somepoint @haplain (assume if an-OS dump then will be combined SIMM and PLCC chip dump - but this might not be the case). Interested to know as the PLCCs are soldered what the final version of the code is on them (unless there...
Did some more ROM digging and have found some "key dates".
These are based on when Open Transport driver was saved/encoded.
Assuming these are correct, then the TriPex and Digibarn ROMs are only a few days apart. I also did a DIFF comparison using HexFiend between these, and also the TriPex...
So I can confirm that the PLLC chips on mine are also the same numbers - hence I think the file names I'd used (unless these are the DigiBarn copies) of:
PLLC CHIPS
341S0396EVEN.bin
341S0395ODD.bin
Ah cool, great to know both 3mb and 4mb dumps of the Digibarn ones got decoded originally. Obviously, must have been done for you to be able to make the new ones (hadn't thought/realised that 😂).
Shipping to the UK might be interesting. Brexit has mucked up customs times on top of COVID.
