I think the list of tasks you provided is a really good template for a lot of bombed Macs. (Obviously, it's not an exhaustive list but still quite thorough and has a lot of good things to try.) I'm going to keep a copy of that saved.
Also been a huge fan of your products for many years now...
My SE/30 project still isn't quite finished but I couldn't handle cap resoldering myself and got some assistance from someone local who did it inexpensively. Would rather spend the money to have it done correctly than attempt it myself at this point in my life. But if I had more time and a nicer...
Once I get the SE/30 recapped from your buddy that will be my main machine and I’ll use a BlueSCSI or a zuluscsc
Yeah no problem. The hard drive is dead from what I can tell so I’ll just be using a bluescsi or zuluscsi for the se/30 (preferably something internal) and then once the SEs are...
Oh I just bought a second one…. Like a couple hours ago. You can have it for free. You want the red one that came with the SE/30 or one of the ones from the SE?
I have Version 1.1a which requires the STSLink device (which I may have in storage) so I will need to make do with transferring files to the sd card directly. I have access to vmac and Sheepshaver but it doesn't appear that they are able to see the mounted sd card. This is all quite new...
I had a feeling the seller did some upgrades to it, or maybe the owner before him did some kind of upgrades. I wasn't sure if that red HDD chassis was stock, but if I compare it to my SE's it didn't seem like it. Looks like the HDD may be dead (X symbol) so I booted off the BlueSCSI again to...
It was a bit of a drive to pick up the machine, but thanks to @volvo242gt for letting me know about this machine's existence. Had been looking on and off for an SE/30 and I figured it was time to take the plunge... and I figured $125 wasn't a bad price (whether or not the logic board was toast)...
I believe I would be served divorce papers... If I can eventually 'trade up' one (or both) of my SEs for an SE/30 then I would be interested in getting it all decked out with purple. But the simplicity of the SE (and less leaky caps) has its own charms too.
Oh, I doubt it’s anything with the software. I think I need to adjust my settings between OS 9 and the router so they work together. I thought setting up a static IP would resolve the issue but apparently not.
