I'm working on a few damaged and/or non-functional SE/30 logic boards, trying repair them before moving the components to a couple Re-loaded boards with the hope of starting with known-good components to transfer to the new boards. I'm trying to improve my diagnostic and soldering skills on the...
@Phipli - sorry for the trivial question, but where (which volume of Inside Macintosh) did you find the "initialization sequence" pointed to by the article on System Startup? I'd like to read the next section as well but I've been through the IM indices without much luck.
Thanks,
Jack
This kind of in-depth fault tracing with scope images is super-helpful. I've repaired several similar Macs by shotgunning the "likely suspects" - UD8, UE8 and UF8 - but this is a much more informative and elegant approach. Thanks for showing the way!
Never mind - I was about to make the same suggestion. I've bought boards and parts from Will but never had him do a reload for me. Nice guy, very easy to deal with. Shipping from the Cayman Islands to the US usually takes about two weeks.

Just got my Compact SE/30 board today and have been using it to sort through a pile of SE/30 logic boards - super easy to use and nice not to have to take up valuable bench space with a full chassis just to see video output. WillJac has been super helpful with support on resolving some prototype...
Just a comment noting the civility and good spirit with which a mis-understanding can be handled without flames. Makes me really happy to be a (new) member of the 68K community.
Congratulations!
Glad to hear from someone who had a good experience with sockets. What led you to identifying the ADB as the problem and where did you get the PIC replacement?
