    Iirc the only symptom i had when the switches was configured incorrectly was the incorrect amount of memory detected by the system.

    I have one of those in my m5120 portable, and indeed its a 2mb card. I did not need to install any drivers to get the memory detected. Had to fiddle around with the switches abit though, but its easy since its only 9 different combinations.
