Power Mac G4 MDD and the USB 2.0 chip

After taking screenshots of System Profiler on two separate MDDs, I realised I swapped the downgraded logic board out a while back when troubleshooting stability issues (it was the PSU). When I get some more time I'll put it in a working machine and try again, unless anyone else is game to try...

Power Mac G4 MDD and the USB 2.0 chip

What's the best way to test speeds? The only FireWire device I have is an iPod which I could try this weekend. The AirPort Extreme works, and will also test BT

Power Mac G4 MDD and the USB 2.0 chip

I have a downgraded FW800, I think the only downside was that the FW800 ports were recognised as FW400 (maybe only on OS9, i can't remember), but I never actually tested that. It's been running nicely for many years without issue.

MacSurf — a real NetSurf-based browser for Mac OS 9 (CSS3, ES5 JS, native HTTPS)

It absolutely shows! I'm surprised you've manage to squeeze so much modern functionality into this. I'll try to do some bug testing when I get a little more time :) Haha that's good to know!

MacSurf — a real NetSurf-based browser for Mac OS 9 (CSS3, ES5 JS, native HTTPS)

What does work already is crazy impressive! I had a few crashes with JS heavy sites e.g. Google, Apple, but otherwise it's a massive upgrade already compared to the existing browsers available on these systems

MacSurf — a real NetSurf-based browser for Mac OS 9 (CSS3, ES5 JS, native HTTPS)

Wow this is an AMAZING project!! I just had a quick try and it's very impressive, especially the flexbox and CSS3 support. Well done, I can't wait to see this progress!

New application for Mac OS 8-9!

Thanks @TekTherapy! I'm very close to releasing the latest update, just fixing the last minor bugs and some fixes for the incoming OSX build. That was a great video and there was some excellent feedback which I've addressed. The performance drop is fixed, I mistakenly set the default tracking...

    Loosening Powerbook g4 Ti Hinges

Update: the Lubeco Bar & Chain Oil 100 worked well for over a year, but recently one of my hinges decided to abruptly seize and completely snapped off while opening the laptop. The user CGH mentioned here that using a conventional oil was probably a bad idea and suggested SuperLube grease and...

New application for Mac OS 8-9!

Sorry for the slow response! If you can reproduce it crashing while adding a folder I'd be very grateful if you could share the folder you're adding so I can fix it. Adding by folder adds all game applications within a given folder. If you have an enormous game folder I wonder if it ran out of...

New application for Mac OS 8-9!

Thanks everyone!! @n8blz I'll have an OSX build ready for testing soon, and hopefully a 68k/System 7 build later :) @Byte Knight I'm currently looking into building a tool to create "Game packs" which will auto-install games into the application's library, hopefully this would be a good...

New application for Mac OS 8-9!

Hi everyone, After working away at many projects I've finally finished one of them! GameBox is a game library partially inspired by Steam, and is built to make the process of gaming on a vintage Mac as straight forward as possible. My kids have struggled with the quirks of gaming on vintage...

What are some code editors recommended for MacOS 9x?

I like to use BBEdit occasionally. C++ was common, I've been having a lot of fun with REALBasic recently which is very quick to get onboard with an a small learning curve (more scripting vs programming)
