    Rebuilding a Pismo battery

How long do you think it will recalibrate the onboard bp2040 chip to sense the correct values? Just curious before I try and tackle this with my working pismo(s).

Sonnet G3 233mhz accelerator and PM 6100 with HPV

So, I scored a 233mhz g3 PDS accelerator off of ebay, and it works. This weekend I was testing this out with Mac OS 7.6.1 to see if there were issue. I see that the extention is disabled if I plug my HPV card into the slot. Does anyone know of a "hack" or way to force-enable it? I know that...

Resurecting 6100 ... HPV and cache memory upgrades?

Well, I got my 6100 up and "running". Waiting on a bluescsi drive to arrive. I just need to get the adapter board made and come up with a way to bend some aluminum sheet to help stabilize the hpv card/adapter. My 2mb HPV comes to live right away. JOY!

Resurecting 6100 ... HPV and cache memory upgrades?

I need to dig out my soldering iron, electrical solder, and flux... its been a few years since I have had to use them.

Project: PowerMac 6100 HPV Riser + HPV VRAM

@joshc I was browsing the github folder(s) and I am looking for what files I need to send into jlcpcb to get this started. Also, I see that Mouser has the EDAC 302-182-520-900 (182 pin) connector but not the 302-132-520-201 (132 pin) version. (I took the time to count the pins on the pics of...

For getting the board printed here in the USA, who are folks recommending we go to and submit the files from the Github?

Resurecting 6100 ... HPV and cache memory upgrades?

My last retro project is bringing back to life a 2nd hand 6100/60 The initial goal is to get an HPV board (from a 7100) installed and upgrade it to 2MB (comes with 1MB) - Where can I get compatible memory sticks for this board? - Where can I get ahold of a "T" mounting plate to fit it to my...

Restoring HP and Canon printer cartridges (expired/NOS)

I wanted to get my Canon BJ portable printer and HP Deskjet 450 back up and running. The HP is a bit "easier" to find working cartridges (but they are all expired) Get a reliable refill kit Add 1cc of additional fluid to each of the tanks Place cartridges in a plastic container with a 70 (or...

    5300c battery questions

That sounds about right. I used a thin strip of Gorilla Glue tape (black stuff) to hold the sensor onto a teeny-tiny bead of ArticSilver paste. The only thing that is important is the side that comes into contact with the cell. The other side is irrelevant.

    5300c battery questions

I believe that is thermal "glue" to help with identifying the temp of the cells as it approaches the charge limit. I think someone used a tiny thermal pad (double sided adhesive) as a work around. I have not seen a 3D STL for the battery pack, but, I would be interested in it as well. When I...

    3D-Printed Objects

I am still hunting for a "decent" battery setup for my PB 5300 that I can use AA "Everloop" cells in instead of having to glue/tape/solder them permanently. My last working 5300 battery is probably going to die in the next year or two and I really want to fix all 3 of them if I can. But having...

Powerbook 5300CE... the cacheless nightmare. trouble getting an O/S to install. please, can you help?

(resurrecting an old thread) I use an mSATA-IDE adapter with plenty of holes drilled into the cover (to release the heat) and then booted off of a CDROM. I've not had the best luck with CF cards keeping data. I put a CF-PCMCIA card in the card slot with OS8.1 and use that for booting. I have...

    Powerbook 3400 PRAM Batteries

I had to make up my own for my PB's I used conductive "glue" for fixing rear-window defrosters to hold the cells together and then I removed the wires from the old pack and re-soldered them to leads coming from the new one. I used VERY thin brass sheet metal to make the top/middle/bottom...

Video Format Which Doesn't Tax G4

Just to add, in college we were told to use MPEG-1 for nearly everything as it played readily across all platforms. (but it looked like crap...) I remember debates raging on Sorenson vs Cinepak vs Indeo. I don't think Indeo was on the Mac until mid 2000s. The format for games like Myst...

    My Pismo lives again!

They boot fine but running any apps long term burns them out. I has 2 SanDisk and a Sumsung card due an early death. CF tend to last longer and are faster, but, the lack of any form of cache limits their potential. I've just had much better success with mSATA for faster notebooks. My 5300's...
