    Okay, it was the rasterops video card that was to blame. I took it out and used the built in video, now it looks just fine.

    The contrast and brightness are the things I tried without success. I thought this was the problem at first. The code under the sad mac is unreadable because the image is "scattered" all over the screen. there are a few places that you can tell its the sad mac face, though it has shown up...
