I managed to find a couple broken traces that were obscured by the barcode label! One of the traces was to the ASC which after reconnecting, fixed the video, although briefly. After subsequent reboots, the vertical bars returned, but with more data this time. More details...
I'm working on a Macintosh II with similar vertical patterns. I haven't found broken traces and I don't have an oscilloscope (yet) to investigate ICs. I'm suspicious of the 74ALS651 chips: C7, D7, C8, D8, etc. My understanding is these are RAM buffer chips which pass signals between the NUCHIP...
