The spring making went well, but the spring may be a little tight. The right side of the floppy disk sticks out of the drive just a tad bit more than the left side due to the spring, and this question may be pedantic but does the floppy disk have to be completely centered inside the drive?
Per the subject, does anyone have any recommendations? Rubbing SuperLube grease on the exterior doesn't do much. Is there maybe a way to slide the pieces off and get to the metal rail? Unless SuperLube oil is an alternative, that may seep in there.
Welp, my Powerbook 160 seems to be a prime example of Murphy's Law.
Long story short, the flex cable for the top head of the drive has snapped. I just wanna check if there's possibly some magical way to remedy this before getting a whole new drive. Any thoughts? Thanks!
I had a similar thought a few days ago. Great timing.
My Powerbook 160 also has a Sony MPF22A-01, with one 6A 47uf aluminum vchip (same the left board in your image).
I was cleaning a floppy drive when I seemingly bent a spring out of place. Could anyone measure the spring (its position is marked in red) so I can find a McMaster replacement? Thanks!
Any updates to this? I have an SE/30 with 7.1 and 64mb of ram and... I'd looove to skip the startup check.
EDIT: I realize this thread is in the Power Mac section. Maybe disregard this comment o_O
Per the title, I have a 160 that I'm restoring. Is there a way to pull off the keycaps so as to clean under them? Just checking so I don't potentially break something. Thanks!
Nothing new here, my brightness pot has rusted away and the metal parts have disintegrated.
There's a post from 2021 regarding this, but maybe something's changed in the last five years?
Any help? Thanks!
