Sorry, I didn't understand what you meant by a "630", did you mean: https://everymac.com/systems/apple/mac_performa/specs/mac_performa_630.html ?
If that will also fit into a MacTV case with room for the tuner, that gives me something else to hunt-for.
Thanks.
I watch ebay for stuff from time irregularly, but I thought there might be something modern. I have an unused Pi4 so hoping something is out there, my google-fu was too weak to find anything.
I did send the unit to Someone With Skills (TM) and they let me know about the current situation. So now I am basically looking for anything that will fit inside the case and provide TV input, since MacTV parts are kind of hard to find these days. :)
Hi all. I was thinking-through a way to get a System 7.5 SE/30 to use multiple serial devices:
MIDI box
HAM radio TNC
ImageWriter
Vernier Lab box
I think there is a way to use a Raspberry Pi w/HAT to act as a kind of "switchbox", maybe emulating a device from the 80s or 90s that did such a...
Hi all. What would be the recommended TV tuner solution for a Mac LC 5xx series machine? I understand that I'll need an additional external device to convert HDMI and other modern signals to something the tuner would recognize, but am not sure what that would be in 2026. My MacTV logic board...
Can anyone recommend a place in the Philadelphia metropolitan area? Or New York City area? Mac Plus display just went bad (deflection yoke?) so would like to get it going again but would rather make a road trip than try to find a shipping box etc.
Thanks.
It seems like I am looking for a commercial venture for someone else with actual talent. :)
A Raspberry Pi Zero taking a lead from "somewhere" on the motherboard when a cool activity is happening that is variable (eg CPU cache misses), and powering the 1-inch oscilloscope/vu-meter/gauge display...
Even better. Something like this to show activity. This thing takes 3.5mm as input, but if there was something that could be clamped into a CPU pin (for example similar to how the PDSROM clamps on pin 27 IIRC) with the other end stimulating this display, that would be cool. Pure BW 1-bit fun...
Hi all. Is there a place on the SE/30 motherboard where wires could be run to an external LED to make it light/active on "heavy" CPU operations, or disk operations, or network operations? Just looking for something to blink when the system is active. Kind of like the CPU lights on the ZipGSX in...
Hi all. From what I have read so far, the Noctua NF-A6x25 FLX 60x25mm fan is the thing to have in an SE/30 in 2025. However, it also appears to require a lot of disassembly and soldering that I'm not comfortable doing. Can anyone point me to search terms for products that give external cooling...
