The Green Light Blinketh, the Lombard Stinketh

Do I need a new sound/power card?

Took this Lombard out of a drawer and now I remember why it was there. When hooked up to known good power supply without battery, the green sleep light blinks on briefly and goes out. Only leaving it alone for a little while will let it do even that much again. Some of the time jiggling the power supply connector makes more green light, sometimes it doesn't. It is sort of consistent in its inconsistency.

With a known good battery, it starts up from a CD (right now it has no HD)and shows what it should. And the little battery indicator at the top of the screen was at first showing the lightning bolt to indicate battery being charged, but now it doesn't. (Now it's showing it again. I turned it off for a little while and turned it on again and there it is.)

I posted this on the Apple older hardware forum, and then realized hardly anyone ever reads that one. I expect you guys will have an answer or several much sooner! :D

Try re-setting the Power Manager, (for instructions click here), and see if that makes any improvement. Other than that I can only suggest that the power connector may be faulty in which case you'll need to open the machine up and re-solder the connector to the motherboard.
