The Fabulous Macintosh LC III

Just swapped my LC II's mainboard with an LCIII one. Now I just have to replace the OS on the drive and hope that drive keeps ticking (it's the LPS model, which I hear is less failure prone than the ELS, but it is 20+ years old). Apparently, the LC III won't even boot 7.0.1 :( Wish I'd kept the original 7.1 install it had when I got the computer (found it in a thrift store). Always thought it was kind of sad that the LC II only supported 10mb, so no ram upgrade possible at all.

That swap is really easy, minus needing to move the fan as it seems like the LCIII might be just a tad longer so it's hard to just pop it in with everything else in place.

I can confirm, 128mb 72pin simms do not work in the LC-III or LC-III+ or LC520 and i would assume the LC550 as well.

The machine will give the Macintosh Tone, just never brings up video, let it sit for 5 min, no way a memory test would take that long.
