I made a video about upgrading a RAM card

So I’ve been kind of toying with the idea of creating YouTube content for a while. Here’s my first properly edited video, perhaps some of you will enjoy it.

This is great! Your filming is good and I think you're quite good on camera. Only thing I would add is to mention that in addition to helping hold the chips in place, the tacky paste flux also removes oxidation so that the solder can flow properly and wet both the pads on the board and the legs on the chips, and harden smooth and shiny when it cools.

Thank you for the feedback! So glad you liked it. I had fun making it too.

I know, it's because of the way I edited the content that it sounds like I don't understand what flux is for. I think I later say that it helps the solder flow where it's supposed to go, but I cut that bit out. I was just saying the stuff that was popping into my head as I was doing it because having a camera on you makes you forget things!

For the next video, perhaps I need to script it properly or at least put up a bit of text onscreen to correct any bloopers, as other YouTubers do.

Loved the video! And agree with @obsolete that you are quite good on camera!

One issue... now you got me wanting to try this upgrade myself!! 🤣 that and your cpu swap.

Really well done!! I LOVE these 500 series, and I have three working 540c, and several parts machines. I bought a machine from a gentleman about four years back, and it had a screen problem. But, it also had three things in it: 1. 32 Mb Ram card. 2. APS 800Mb hard drive 3. NewerTech 603e 183Mhz PPC upgrade card!!!! Believe it or not, I have the 540C running Mac OS 9, as it needs 32Mb of physical ram, and then it uses 32 Virtual Memory as well. Keep up the great videos, I am starting to publish these as well.

Thank you so much, this is really encouraging! I’m going to publish more as soon as I get over tonsillitis 😅

Love the 500 series as well, even more now that I’ve got a full 040 in one of mine. How does it feel to run OS9 on it?
