Ensoniq Paris or Yamaha DSP Factory?

Opinions sought.

AFAIK, neither of the above have OS X drivers. If anyone can tell me otherwise, I'd love to hear.

I'm eyeing off a local Paris system with the outboard controller (faderboard) and two MEC expansion chassis. It finishes in 3 and a bit hours, and right now it's very cheap (AU$67). It's already been passed in and relisted once.

The other option is a Yamaha DSP Factory - DS2416 card and AX44 breakout. US$136 plus shipping from China.

If anyone has used either or both of these, your opinions are most welcome.

(For everyone else, they are both old but high end PCI multichannel audio in/out systems with DSP effects)

Please, it would also be great if you didn't go hunt these up and bid against me :-/

My personal preference only from reading about them over the years is the Ensoniq Paris. Lot's of good stuff in Sound on Sound about it. The Yamaha is a bit newer if I recall, but the Paris is just a neat piece of gear. Also if it makes any difference, the Yamaha is more common to find than the Paris by a long shot in full working order than the Paris rigs.

Nope I don't think either of them support osx though. I've been on a JL Cooper kick recently too. 2 CS-10's and will pick up the MAGI II this weekend. Already have 3 Digidesign R1 controllers in the basement lab now.

Ah, I just let the Paris go. It closed at $67 :( Even if I gutted the controller to make a MIDIbox, that would still have been dirt cheap.

Still thinking about the DS2416. Mmmm, 5 DSPs.
