Connecting a StyleWriter to Mac OS 10.6.3

Based on what I've read on line: https://web.archive.org/web/20160122105533/http://cw.kolleegium.ch/stylewriter/ I feel like this should be a relatively straight and forward process, however, I've been stumped with this for the past week+.

I have a couple StyleWriter Printers (II & 2200), which I would like to get working with my Mac running, 10.6.3. I've got a KeySpan USA-28x adapter which I have installed the drivers for and the adapter shows up in the “Keyspan Serial Assistant” program.

I installed Ghostscript (I’ve tried various editions of this)
Printer is turned on and attached.
Installed Foomatic for StyleWriter package
Ran both scripts in order:
—Selected KeySpan (KeySerial1) as my serial port (but I tried all three Serial options for the adapter listed)
—Selected Apple StyleWriter II as my printer of choice

At this point, the printer has been added to my system preferences but whenever I go to print anything,
nothing happens. They System Print Dialog just stays on “printing” never advancing of doing anything.

I'm not sure if I'm missing something obvious or if the two StyleWriter printer I'm using are just broken? They both can print a test page by holding down the power button. I also tested two different KeySpan adapters and got the same result. And I tested the cable, it it also appears to be fine. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi!
I think you will find your answer on this French post by @Dandu :
Interesting, I have a 19HS, but if I understand the French correctly (I didn't want to switch to the English version): "En 2018, un seul adaptateur fonctionne correctement sous macOS avec un système d’exploitation récent : le USA-28XG", it won't work. That doesn't bother me for now, because I'm not likely to pick up a StyleWriter until late March and even then I only plan to use it on my PowerBook 1400.

Thanks very much!
I must have completely glossed over that fact.
It does seem a bit strange though in my case, since the USA-28X does install and shows up fine but just doesn't print.
Since I'm using Mac os 10.6.3 which came out in 2010, you wouldn't think this would be an issue but then again the driver does only mention the USA-28XG specifically, so I'm off on a search to find that adapter now. :)
