The difference you'll be feeling is damped vs. undamped. The switches they use in both keyboards have similar feel. Even most of the salmons in the AEKIIs were damped.

Truth be told? I've worked in rooms with other AEKs... and you kinda want the damping so that someone doesn't forcibly try to navigate a CRT through your head while they're trying to concentrate. They. Are. Loud.
Not as loud as the keyboard on this machine:

The early //e keyboard is like a M0115 with a megaphone. Same feel, same sound, just much louder.

Well this thread got into details very fast ;-)

@billbucks060 - to summarise the above for you, all ADB keyboards will work. Some are nicer than others to type on, but any ADB keyboard will work.

The best ADB keyboard is the one that's available and within your budget, and unless you are planning to type on it a lot, or you like keyboards for their own sake, I wouldn't worry too much about which you get. The nice ones get pricy.

@cheesestraws. Yup, and sometimes, unexpected factors come into play. I use my Apple Design keyboard - one of the less popular keyboards, simply because I worry my cat might be sick in it and don't want to risk a better keyboard.

This is true.

Yep.

With respect to cats upchucking things, I trained my last Maine Coon to go to his litterbox and do his "technicolor rainbow" in there. When I'd hear him start making the clicking sounds of him choking on something, I'd say "use the litterbox" and he'd walk over to it, lean over the side, and do his thing inside the box.

The ADK isn't the worst keyboard out there. It's not the nicest to type on, but, compared to more modern Apple keyboards, it's actually fairly decent. I used one with my last B&W G3. Was more enjoyable to use than the "ice tray" A1048 I'd been using with it previously.

We had a calico once who trained herself to use the toilet instead of a litterbox!! The only thing she couldn't do was flush, but she handled the rest quite magnificently (I must admit, it's very strange watching a cat squat onto a toilet to do their thing!)

It's very fascinating how smart cats can be....
