$15 for a Wallstreet!? Yes!

The 13.3 Wallstreets were pretty famous for bad hinges causing the display cable to rip, ruining the display. I can't remember where I've read about this (I think Charles Moore at Applelinks or wherever he was about 5 years ago) but I'd definitely look into how to tighten or replace the hinges.

I had a Kanga have floppy hinges where a splined post had worked loose and I was able to fix it, but I could see how it easily could have damaged the display cable, which wraps around the hinge on its way from the logic board to the lcd.

Emates were another famous hinge problem, where a thick spring gradually unwinds due to thickening grease, puncturing the display cable. If you have an emate make sure to do the hinge fix!

Yeah, I think I'll get a 14.1" screen w/ good hinges if I can find one (without horrible case/tuxedo scratching) on Ebay. Another option is to find a MainStreet with one of these displays - it might be cheaper and come with RAM/battery to boot :)
