Classic II is the only compact Mac I own ... or ever owned. Really liked messing around with it, and have it running on OS 7.55. With an adapter that cost more than the computer itself, I can get it online and browse the internet with an older browser. Also have it hooked up to a SCSI CD-ROM...
In late '86, I was using an old Timex Sinclair 2068, and I lusted after Macintosh products. Other than the Apple IIe computers we used in high school, I knew little about Apple II computers, other than how to program them in Basic. So probably would have gone for the Mac.
I can get the cursor on the screen to move in all directions but the left, and moving the mouse to the left succeeds only in moving the cursor to the right.
Loaded a couple of games with joystick option, and could not get the cursor on the screen to move more than just a little.
Okay, so posted this on Applefritter, but sadly came to no resolution. What follows is a summary:
Machine: Apple IIc Plus, in excellent condition - very clean and no noticeable corrosion on board or ports, no RAM expansion card
Mouse: Tried two of them:
1. A2M4015 (initally sent it back to...
Went ahead and ordered the device, so will report on progress here once it gets in. Based off what I've read, will have to either shave the card itself or modify the cage to make it fit. Downloaded all the USB extensions and got rid of the errors, so from a software perspective it should be...
Found this article online, which details how to fit a 3400 with a CardBus USB, and am prepared to get one off of eBay.
Does this look like a good fit, or would y'all recommend something else?
Okay, so am picking up a 350 MB hard drive from eBay for around $30 with shipping.
Glad I did some searching first, or I'd have picked up the wrong drive. Its important to note that the drive in a Classic II must be the 50-pin version. And those run a bit more expensive, since there are a lot...
Did a search to see if this question had been asked before, but could not find it - so to the point:
Have '93 Classic II with what might be an ailing 80 MB hard drive and was looking to upgrade. As most know, this particular machine sports a 3.5 SCSI internally, so I looked on eBay:
eBay...
Thanks for the answer and the link.
Still trying to find a scanned Apple //c Plus owners manual online, so I can answer these questions myself.
The helpful folks at Applefritter posted this, but I can't get it to open.
Okay, conducted a hardware test IAW the following instructions:
... and got the following:
CARD SIZE = 1 MEG
PASSES = 0000
CARD FAILED
ADDRESS ERROR
SEE DEALER FOR SERVICE

Opened my machine a few days ago to check on some tiny piece rattling...
Thanks! Just found one fault I recently uncovered: The "X" key doesn't function. That will mess with my ability to program in BASIC. Any suggestions on what to do?
Thanks for the heads-up, folks. This IIc is going to be both a challenge and fun. Short story time:
When I was mowing lawns in my junior year of HS, one of my customers had a //c. I gushed over it, and so he made me a deal: If I cut his lawns enough times, I'd get the //c instead of the...
