@wackymacs. Thanks for the pointer, but I was looking for a newer version than you had available. It was provided to me, so you'll soon have it as well...
I mainly plan on learninh how to program the classic Macs and going from there. I have a severe dislike for C anyway, so the fact that Pascal was s loved on the Mac makes it more attractive to me than the alternatives.
I'm looking to start coding for classic Macs, and a lot of thing's I've read have led me to believe that Pascal is the best way to program for classic Macs. Many things I've read have also said that Think Pascal was THE implementation of Pascal to use, especially since I only care about 68K...
Mine didn't really die, it sort of petered out over time. It never worked 100% to begin with (it wouldn't boot any OS newer than 7.6, despite the fact that it should have been fine with everything through at least 8.6) and over time it got finickier and finickier about booting. Eventually it...
Some yellowing is irreversable, but at least the dirty looking patches should be cleanable. Hope you can clean the mobo and replace the caps. Why Apple used such substandard caps has always been beyond me, but as this was your first computer, I guess it deserves the effort to clean up and get...
One was posted on Freecycle and there's been no message that's been claimed yet. So yeah, I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping to pick up one of the best computers for music-making ever (Seriously. It has the guts of an Ensoniq EPS on the mobo)
NEXTSTEP 3.3 should FLY on that sucker, assuming you can get install media. Here's a source for a complete (now free, but only as in beer, not as in speech) office suite for NEXTSTEP and OPENSTEP: http://download.ithinksw.com/lighthouse/
Note that I don't know if the binaries there will run on...
Probably there's plenty of games that could be converted to a Zip-chipped IIgs... I mean they got Wolfenstein 3D going on it, so why not a whole bunch of other games of that era. With the IIgs's awesome sound chip, why not, say Team 17's excellent Alien Breed top-down shooters?
Just remember to be sure you set your FTP client to binary mode before you send. I accidentally left mine in "auto" mode and it transfered my files as text files, which of course corrupted them. I had to redo my uploads in binary mode to get them to work!
Various schools and other entities HAVE become MUCH stricter about giving stuff away. At least in MA, where I live, tax reasons actually have a lot to do with it. Schools and other governmental entities are exempt from sales tax. Private individuals, of course, have to pay. Thus transferring...
I tried it with an FTP client. It just got stuck at "Entering Passive Mode" Anyways, I managed to find a complete copy of a certain big-ticket image editor that had been broken on your site. It included ATM 3.9.something. PM me with a place to upload to if you'd like the whole package for the Hut...
Grr. That 3.8.3 link does not get along with my internet - either at home or at school or at work. There must be something odd about the way the FTP server is set up.
SIT files probably are the best way to provide both compression and fork protection, though you should make sure that your SITs will properly open in at least StuffIt Expander 5.5, if not earlier. Providing a .bin wrapper is probably a good idea too, though, as you can't be TOO careful.
So I finally got a nice collection of Macintosh Type 1 fonts for use on my future 68K "Productivity Box" and I just realized: 68K-compatable versions Adobe Type Manager seems to be unavailable online. 2.0.3 is around, but it's so old that it might have problems with newer programs... If anybody...
