    Well since I know you are all very concerned, just following up to say that I answered my own question: booted into ROM (thanks, Rominator!) and ran Norton Utilities, which claimed to patch up a few things and then I was able to reboot into the correct system folder.  Now, a forum etiquette...

    OK I hope I haven't screwed anything up too bad. I have an SE/30 with a ROM-inator II, running 7.5.5 in 32-bit mode. The HD has been replaced with a SCSI2SD (partitioned into three drives, 7.1, 7.5.3 and 7.5.5 but I primarily use the 7.5.5 one). Last night I was trying to futz around with files...

    Ahhh did not know that. So the slots are just for additional RAM. Cool! Thanks for the info. I've been coveting a CC for a long time so couldn't pass this one up. But clearly I've got more to learn! I tried cleaning it as best I could and figured I'd give it a shot starting the thing up...

    I will try that, but I'm pretty sure there are connections that are completely corroded out. Also I can't believe I just now realized there's no RAM in this board! :O   I'm an idiot. Guess you get what you pay for!
