I've got some more clarity:
1. I found out that the Mac Plus also gives the fat white and black stripes when the SEAD80 drive is NOT turned on, but when the SCSI DB25-cable (non Apple) is in the back of the Plus. So @Gsbtom was right, it is the cable that is not ok for the Plus. Unfortunately I...
I’ve never seen SCSI terminators for these old SCSI connectors (I know about the 80 pin terminators), do they exist?
The cable is not Apple SCSI, true.
It does work normally when booting from the floppy drive. I have never used a SCSI device before on the Plus (and don’t have any other then this) so I am not 100% sure this port is ok.
Hi,
I've got a Macintosh Plus and I want to hook it up with a SEAD80 hard disk drive. I think this drive is quite rare. This drive is manufactured by SEA Software Nederland (the Netherlands) in 1990. It probably has 80MB storage capacity and I got it some time ago with an Apple IIGS.
I never...
@gilles Thank you for pointing the 'crack' out. It is not a crack though :) But there WAS a crack in the adapting plastic 'cilinder' (from here on I will call it 'adapter') that connects the print roll rod to the stepper motor (see attached pics). At first I did not see it because it is black...
Thanks for all the replies!
@gilles I don’t see cracks anywhere and don’t believe there are any. Could you point this out with an arrow or circle on the photo?
The rubber rings on the print roll axis are ok. When I turn the knob of the print roll, the paper moves upwards/downwards. ...
Hi, I've just brought my Apple SilenType printer back to life yesterday, hooked up on my Apple II Europlus. Amazing it still prints.
There is just one problem: it won't move the print roll. So lines are printed on top of each other. I suspect a defective electric motor on the print roll rod...
Crazy stuff. I put everything together and all is ok. Probably it was the connection of the long pins in the red socket after all. Relieved here!
Thanks!
Thanks for helping!
I’ve removed the top and disassembled the keyboard. The long pins appear to Ben in the red socket.
I’ve checked the alps too. They are alright, they always were.
A friend of mine mails me and thinks the duplexer chip could be the problem. No idea what that means or where...
There are no stuck keys. Strange thing is: it doesn’t happen with the following keys:
3 7 W O S G K ; C /
When I am in ProDOS List Directory, all keys function well. See picture where I type RRR without underscores.
When en going to AppleSoft Basic, it goes wrong. See second picture.
What...
Hi,
my Apple II Europlus types an underscore after each character. What could be wrong? Used systems are DOS 3.3 and ProDOS 1.01, both with the same results.
Help is is very much appreciated!
I've managed to unplug the plugs from the Logic-board. It is clearly to see that there is corrosion (the light brown 'heaps' around the capacitors), see my picture.
Two questions:
1. I've also made a picture of the 'orange-brown golden fingers strip' that just slid out of the plug when I lift...
Here a photo of all the cables connected to the Logic board. The left plug was the only one I managed to unplug. A bit strange though: the golden fingered flat strip just slid out of the plug…
All the other plugs I just could not get loose. Unbelievable how stuck they are! What’s the clue?
