I think I figured this out, somehow while mucking around inside my 840AV, I seem to have smeared arctic silver on a few of the PSC chip's pins. Cleaned all the chips in the area with alcohol, and it works again. *whew*

Well F&@# me....This appears to have stopped working all of a sudden. When I opened the case, everything looks normal except the heatsink is loose. Dunno if it's supposed to be that way. I have a 33 Mhz 68LC040 I can try and swap out to see if the CPU died. Or maybe it's the memory?

Yaaay, I have always wanted one of these. I have a question though. I am hesitant to put this in my IIsi. Last time I added an accelerator card to a IIsi, I fried it. I vaguely remember there being some difference between the IIsi and other II's that prevented you from using certain cards...

Yes, many Ethernet cards included this socket (though not including the chip).

No, I am sorry, it isn't mine...just thought it'd be useful. There were 225 Mhz versions. I found it hard to tell the difference between the 225, 250, and 275 ones. I had a 300 Mhz one once, and it overheated a lot.

hehehe, I have a MC68851 in my desk drawer. With the golden cap removed. :) I also might have a PLCC 68882, but i don't know the speed. There is a 20 Mhz one currently in my IIsi, I might have another like it. I'll check.

I suppose it's subjective which is better, but as far as rarity goes, 840AV's aren't really that hard to find, generally. Mine is nice because of its condition. But I have never seen a 512e or a TAM, personally.

So I hit the North Shore last night and grabbed some stuff. Nothing too crazy: 6100/60 max ram, no hard drive, dirty case 6100/60 ? ram no hard drive, dirty case, yellowed, missing tab on back 6100/60AV with HPV card and Some form of Sonnet accelerator, maybe g3, max ram, slightly yellowed...

I don't generally misplace stuff like that. The only thing I can think of is that I recently lost my car to a bad driver, and they totaled it and took it away. I very rarely would leave the camera in the center console if I brought it with me to do nature shoots, so it may have disappeared...

Guys, it says clearly a few posts ago, my camera is MIA. I generally annoy people by posting like 4,293 pictures of every chip in every electronic gadget I own, this is the first time I got told I didn't post enough....LOL! My camera is (or WAS) a Canon SD600. I wish I knew where it was....
