Has anyone seen this before? I bought a Plus on eBay for $10 and it has a daughtercard with an 030 (and FPU). I bought the Plus just to get a working analog board, so wasn't expect this. Anyone heard of this kind of board?

It is definitely not the floppy drive as the Mac doesn't power up at all. just a faint "tick tick tick" at about 3-4x per second in speed. Pretty certain it's the analog board. Any suggestion what to look for?

Thanks all. I opened it up and didn't observe anything obviously wrong. However, when I try to power it up, I just get a faint rapid "clicking" sound and nothing happens. Ironically, this is the same problem with my Mac 512k. Any suggestions on which component(s) of the analog board failed?

Thanks everyone. FWIW, I'm running 7.0 on the SE/30, but also have a 7.5 System on it that I can switch between (although the speed hit from 7.5 is pretty stiff). I do not have 7.6, but have 8, 8.5, and 9. Will an intermediate machine running 8 or 9 work in lieu of a 7.6 machine?

Sorry, I was not clear. I want to file-share between the two computers, mostly be able to pull files from the iMac on the SE/30, but alternatively, if I could "push" files from the iMac onto the SE/30 that would work too.

I've got an SE/30 with an ethernet card. I've got it set up with a proper IP address and now can get it on my network (and the internet). However, I'm stumped at trying to get either the SE/30 to see my Intel iMac or vice-versa. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

No plans to trash it yet (I mean recycle). I just put it in the basement and will crack it open to see what got smoked. You guys will hear from me to see if the analog board can be repaired. Sits next to my 512k that also needs a working analog board. Ugh. Time to break out the Quadra 650...

whole machines are much cheaper (and plentiful) on eBay than the analog boards. I may check the local stores first. So sad the Mac Plus got roasted.

FWIW, I was running a minimal 6.0.8 from a 800K floppy in the MacPlus until this morning (computer just died -- see other post). The Mac SE/30 is running 7.0.x off a 2GB internal HD. I tried running earlier SW on the Plus, but really, I didn't do much with it and 6.0.8 did what I needed it to...

Wife called to say that she turned on the MacPlus for my daughter to use and she smelled smoke and burning. Analog board probably cooked. Rats. Time to find another one on eBay.

All: What is the consequences of just flipping the power switch rather than using the ShutDown command on these two Compact Macs: (1) Mac Plus using floppies; (2) Mac SE/30 with HD? It's not a question of losing the project that I am working on, these are computers that my children play on...

maybe its the charging circuit board. I've read elsewhere that the charging boards tend to die.
