Linux is really picky when it comes to overclocking, and for bad RAM, too. If I overclock my PC gcc will die often and often while compiling anything. And a few computer back I had bad memory that caused exactly what you see now. On that same computer Windows seemed to run normally (although it...

    Mac OS 8 on a G4 QuickSilver 2002

The 9 ROM needs the OS 9 extensions and libs... so you'll get Mac OS 9 in the end.

    Mac OS 8 on a G4 QuickSilver 2002

For 8.6 and later MOM/MOL doesn't need a ROM image.

    Mac OS 8 on a G4 QuickSilver 2002

I installed Mac OS 8.6 on my Sawtooth first with MOM, as long as it worked, it worked good, alas after a while opening any window in the guest OS would stall the VM.

No, only on Jikes and Sawtooth G4's.

    Mac OS 8 on a G4 QuickSilver 2002

It is just impossible. It's missing drivers and makes wrong assumptions on the hardware. You can try MacOnMac or MOL on Linux, but it will not run nativly.

    End of Carbon

They still are productive, Cocoa and Objective C are better then C in a lot of things. (All.. [:D] ]'> ) But they fix you. Besides Cocoa, there is nothing that let's you use it, and you just can't go and port the complete object model (even the API is an obejct model) to another language...
