What's the processor speed? I have a 333 Mhz processor that came out of my rev. b Bondi that you can have for free, if you need it. Will give you a bit more zip!
What do you plan to do with this 30 year old computer? It would make a nice boat anchor, or a booster seat for a child, or maybe a stepladder, or a tombstone in a cemetery...
Some RAM will clock down to lower speeds, but I have seen some that don't. Has something to do with the CAS latency or something techie like that..
What kind of RAM did you use? The system bus in the G3AIO is 66 mhz. Did you use PC133? It might not be compatible, or maybe one of the DIMMs isn't seated properly, or maybe just bad? What happens when you boot with just a minimum amount of ram, like 32 MB? Did you check the IDE jumper...
So a few months ago I bought an iMac from the thrift store to play around with, mostly because I have never used one before. I really bought it to teach myself how to repair and upgrade them. So, in the beginning it was a stock rev.a Bondi ( 233 Mhz G3 / 4gb HDD / 32 mb RAM / 2 mb VRAM on OS...

So I am almost done pimping my iMac.. from the stock 233 G3 / 32mb RAM/ 4 Gb hard drive to a 466 Mhz G4 / 256 Mb RAM / 75 Gb hard drive. However, it still has the stock 24x cd-rom. I see many of the slot-loading 4x DVD-ROM drives that have been pulled from other iMacs on eBay. Can i swap my...
How's this for the ultimate hack? I have Mac OS X running on this machine, using a 'hacked' install DVD with 10.5.2 on it:
It's an Acer Extenza 5620Z. I got it for $499 at Circuit City. It has the same processor and chipset as the Macbook. Works flawlessly. Has the Dual Core processor, 2...
I won this on ebay today:
I plan to add it into my rev. A Bondi iMac. Ending price was $76. Did I get a good price on it? Also, what kind of performance boost can I expect?[/img]
Does the logic board have an expansion VRAM chip installed? Maybe it came loose during the swap. Or maybe the video cable connection on the bottom of the iMac isn't properly connected, or maybe on of the pins got bent when you reconnected it?
Woot! I was playing around this morning with a copy of OSx86 that I had downloaded a while ago, and I thought, will it install on my iBook? To my suprise, it did! Install went well, but when the desktop came up my screen was a mash of greyscale pixels. I was able to muddle my way around...
So I have an iBook SE 466 Mhz that I bought 8 years ago. Is there anything I can do with it nowadays? I had it running OS 9.2.2, but Firefox doesnt run on that.. and IE 5 is demon-spawn horrible... i have the RAM maxed to 320 mb. I have tried Mac OS X 10.1.2, but it's mind numbingly slow...
