Will the MP-F51W-23 Work Inside the Macintosh 512Ke (As Opposed to the MP-F51W-03)?

Awesome. Is there somewhere that lists out all the drives that are compatible? Also, will they fit into the existing 800K drive cage?

Will the MP-F51W-23 Work Inside the Macintosh 512Ke (As Opposed to the MP-F51W-03)?

I have a Macintosh 512Ke and recently the disk drive (MP-F51W-03) failed. Unfortunately I'm unable to find any replacements online, but I am finding drives with model no. MP-F51W-23, which seem to be the part used in the 800K external drives. Can I expect this to work if I plug it into the...

Problematic Macintosh 512K 800K Disk Drive

Update: was able to get the drive to initialize disks after adjusting the homing sensor. However, these disks are unreadable by my 3400c as well as the external disk drive. Upon proceeding to adjust the stepper motor, I accidentally shorted something. The drive continued to work perfectly for a...

Macintosh 512Ke 800K Floppy Drive (MFD-51W-03) Spins Up then Stops

So I was trying to align the drive head and accidentally shorted something with the tip of my hex key while trying to unscrew the bottom most bolt on the stepper motor mount. Sparks flew, the Macintosh immediately rebooted, and explicatives were uttered. I immediately switched off the machine...

    Trouble Initializing/Writing 400k (Single Sided) Disks on a PowerBook 3400c Running 7.6

Perhaps, but my old disks still won't initialize, neither on my Macintosh 512K nor 3400c. So I'm guessing just bad disks.

Problematic Macintosh 512K 800K Disk Drive

I bought a Macintosh 512K that came upgraded with the newer disk drive and ROM chips. I'm able to boot just fine off of the external 400k drive. However, the internal drive is problematic. Out of the many time's I've tried to boot, it only worked twice, the second being kind of glitchy...

Reversing Retrobright Bleaching on a Macintosh 512k Mouse

Update: I tried soaking the mouse in household distilled vinegar for over a week; no results! I ended up just buying another one off of eBay. Lesson learned. I think I'll just go ahead and finish fully bleaching the other one so that the results even out.

Transferring Files to a PowerBook 3400c Running 7.6

Update: I bought a Dazzle 4 in 1 PC Card adapter on eBay and was able to successfully format my SDSC cards by undersizing the last partition by a single kilobyte in Drive Setup. Will fail to initialize otherwise!

    Trouble Initializing/Writing 400k (Single Sided) Disks on a PowerBook 3400c Running 7.6

Hey guys sorry for the late response, I ended up finding a huge box filled with over a hundred floppy disks for $20! I was able to successfully write to the disks from there, so it turns out the ones I had before were indeed bad. Quite a few of the disks from the new box were also bad, but...

    Trouble Initializing/Writing 400k (Single Sided) Disks on a PowerBook 3400c Running 7.6

To me it sounds nominal, but I'm not really sure what its supposed to sound like.

    Trouble Initializing/Writing 400k (Single Sided) Disks on a PowerBook 3400c Running 7.6

Thanks for the tip! So far it seems that the disk images themselves are totally fine. I'm trying to write a system disk for my Macintosh 512k. So at this point its either the drive or the disks themselves, will have to find out by testing with known good disks.

    Trouble Initializing/Writing 400k (Single Sided) Disks on a PowerBook 3400c Running 7.6

Bummer. Would a dirty r/w head be a possibility here?

    Trouble Initializing/Writing 400k (Single Sided) Disks on a PowerBook 3400c Running 7.6

Unfortunately I don't have any other disks to try it with. I know this is probably the bottleneck here, but I want to see what else I could do while I wait for some working disks to be delivered.

    Trouble Initializing/Writing 400k (Single Sided) Disks on a PowerBook 3400c Running 7.6

I am trying to write an image to a 400k single sided disk, but I just can't get it to work. Every program I've tried returns errors, listed below: Disk Copy 4.2 An error (-81) occured while copying/verifying the disk Disk Copy 6.3.3 The Make Floppy operation did not complete. (-81)...

    Installing System 7.5.5 on a PowerBook 3400c Running 7.6

Is it possible? And if so, how would it be done? The only mode of file transportation I have is via a PCMCIA to SD adapter, which I've confirmed to be working with 7.6.

Issues Formatting an SD Card via a PCMCIA Adapter on a PowerBook 3400c Running 7.6

Interesting, didn't know about this! Its a PC card which is meant to by hot-swappable, I think? Anyways what you said works, so thanks!

Issues Formatting an SD Card via a PCMCIA Adapter on a PowerBook 3400c Running 7.6

I got it to work! I just needed to format it with a slightly lower than maximum partition size. Thanks for the help! Now I just need to figure out how to eject it... The eject menu option is grayed out and the button doesn't seem to do anything.
