The Problem with ConfigPPP / MacPPP

I've found frogfind.com to be great with MacWeb 2.0, but that requires System 7.0.1. If you're not already familiar, frogfind is a search engine and HTTP proxy for retro computers that strips out all the stuff old browsers can't handle, and it works pretty well. My Mac Plus is kind of finicky to...

The Problem with ConfigPPP / MacPPP

I found MacPPP 1.1.3 binaries on an FTP site and uploaded to https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/mac-ppp (the 1.1.3 previously on macgarden was only source, not binary). Unfortunately I still couldn't get it to work on my Mac Plus using 6.0.8. It no longer throws the resource error, and appears...

The Problem with ConfigPPP / MacPPP

I'm hitting the same issue on a Mac Plus running 6.0.8 with MacTCP 2.0.6 and MacPPP 2.0.1. I also have only been able to find MacPPP 2.0+... It would be great if you can point us to where we can find the old version of MacPPP.

Mac Plus only recognizing 2MB of a 4MB set

Markings on the motherboard seemed to confirm so I said YOLO and snipped one of the legs on R8 and pushed it to the side so hopefully I could solder it back if I need to go back to 1MB. Now it works! Wow, that's a new one for me!

Mac Plus only recognizing 2MB of a 4MB set

Hmm... I found this, which says I'm supposed to remove resistors to get it to recognize the full amount? Just looking for some confirmation that this works before I start ripping components off my motherboard. https://lowendmac.com/2016/memory-upgrades-mac-plus/

Mac Plus only recognizing 2MB of a 4MB set

I'm trying to upgrade my Mac Plus from the stock 1MB of RAM to 4MB. I ordered a 4X1MB kit from MemoryMasters on eBay. Originally I ordered the wrong kind (3 chip parity), which I understand won't work in a Mac Plus, but they exchanged it for me with a set of non-parity 8 chip sticks...

Mac Plus Case Won't Go back on

I figured out a trick... put a finger in the battery compartment and wiggle the analog board back and forth, and it will find the groove it's supposed to go into. Works much better than smacking the side of the case and cursing :)

Mac Plus Case Won't Go back on

Finally got it back on but I am still not sure what the problem was. I think maybe the analog board wasn't slotting into the groove on the top rear of the case rather than anything catching at the front. Not gonna be taking the stupid thing back off again anytime soon though.

Mac Plus Case Won't Go back on

I recently acquired a Mac Plus that I have restored to working condition (repaired broken solder joints on the analog board). Today I upgraded the memory to 4MB and had trouble getting the back of the case to go back on. Something seems to be catching on the right top corner (above the...
