I've setup a "new" RPi3 server running RPi OS Lite with Netatalk 2.3.x. Just a heads up for anyone else trying to use the Webmin module...
An additional dependency needs to be installed: sudo apt install libcgi-session-perl -y
The Netatalk Webmin module will work, but the module configuration...
I'm sure you all know this, but back in the day there was plenty of pro software that required a FPU. 3D, CAD, animation, statistics and analysis, scientific, I'm sure there's stuff I'm forgetting. A lot of the software wouldn't run without a FPU and using a soft FPU (when that worked) was...
^ Thank you for the kind offer but I just purchased a bag of them earlier this morning and they will arrive tomorrow.
I also bought some plastic weld and epoxy to fix the broken standoff, then a bunch of replacement caps from Digikey. Both machines still work and there are no signs of cap...
The ones I'm missing are the bottom case screws, the first ones you take out from the bottom of the PowerBook to get inside it.
I'm looking to buy more than one, I'm simply trying to make sure I get the correct size. I don't have anywhere locally I can visit to compare to the original so I...
I've got a PowerBook 140 and 165c and both are missing some of the case screws and I need replacements.
I've searched these forums, the Apple Service Sources, and elsewhere but I haven't been able to find a definitive answer about the exact specs needed for replacements.
One source shows T8...
30 minutes, LOL. I would love to only take that long.
I upgraded the NVMe in my 2021 Lenovo Flex 5 earlier this month. Less than 10 minutes start to finish, and that's having never opened it before.
^ Totally agree about the insanity of the iBook G3 / G4 and PowerBook G4 internals. I haven't serviced all models but the ones I have are a mess. I never look forward to working on any of these.
It's such a contrast once you open one up because they're so nice on the outside. I don't know...
I had a similar problem with a µSD extension. When I was trying to troubleshoot I read these SD / µSD extenders are extremely susceptible to interference. That makes sense when you think about the gauge and length of the wires in the ribbon cable. I put copper tape on both sides of the...
Congrats on getting one in good condition! You're right, good condition iBooks are getting harder to find.
I love all of the 12" white iBooks. Their proportions and overall aesthetic just comes across as friendly and happy devices.
Way back when I unintentionally became an Apple salesperson...
I like the grape iMac colors a lot more now than I used to, I think it would look good in many settings. I never disliked them or anything like that — perhaps I couldn't shake the color association with purple Kool Aid / purple-fake-grape-flavored-drink.
I'd say the IIci is definitely one of the best. It was attractively designed, expandable, and powerful enough to do a ton of stuff in its heyday. Even years later, when there were faster machines out there, the IIci was still in use by many design houses.
Not to derail this thread and the awesomeness of the IIci logicboard news, but which logicboards are done? I know of:
SE
SE/30
Classic
(and now) IIci
Are there others?
Since MacIPpi is built upon (an older) Raspberry Pi OS Desktop the pi user and those directories are the default configuration for the desktop. From what I read it appears to have been the intention for MacIPpi to have a working desktop along with the Mac specific server features.
